  Unfortunately, sex trafficking is pretty bad in Portland. I don't know a huge amount about it, but I've read articles about pimps operating out of Seattle and getting girls in Portland, so when they bring the girls north, it's less likely they'll be recognized.

  
  

  ETA: Camas is just over the river from Portland in Washington, and Clackamas, where she was found, is a Portland suburb, which is why I mentioned trafficking in Portland.

  I didn't follow the case but I vaguely remember speculation when it first happened.  They were trying to determine if she left intentionally.

  A city close to me just busted a guy that was trafficking local girls. I think people, especially older generations, think it's a big city or other far off place issue.

  Lurker jumping in: I live about 10 minutes from where her home is. There have been several missing kids/teens in this area lately, that have all been found and later it was reported that they left on their own and were hiding. So I can see why someone would question another teen taking off (especially since someone saw her willingly get into someone's vehicle). But like everyone else has mentioned, if you are being threatened, that is a whole different story. It would be easy to get someone and go north or south on I-5, and be gone in no time flat. So it does make it easier for sex trafficking when you have easy access to an interstate that is a straight shot from Canada through California. I am glad that she was found safe, and I hope that they get to the bottom of whatever was going on.
