So it's not Octo baby related but it's 11:30 on our first day of the three day cold turkey potty training and I am exhausted! Who knew it was so tiring monitoring someone else's bodily functions. Question for those who have already been through potty training did you ask "Do you have to use the potty? " or. " Tell mommy when you have to use the potty?"
Re: NBR: Potty Training my DD
I would mostly say "remind mommy if you need to go potty" Every time I said it though, DS would say, "I need to potty" and we would go. Probably 2/3 of the times we went after this converstaion, he would go actually go. Now he is to the point where he just tells me, or goes by himself!
Good luck!!
We got into a pretty good routine that involved "enforcing" potty-sits before leaving the house, before meals (pee and wash up... easy enough), and before bed. We still use these routines, even though he no longer has accidents. I try not to ask him if he needs to use the potty, now, but when I see him do the dance, it's hard to keep my mouth shut.
Keep up the good work, mama... it'll get better!
I like the idea of naked potty training so at a diaper change I asked DS if he wanted a new diaper or if he wanted to be naked. He said "nakie," so I told him that I would get his potty and if he needed to pee, he should sit on it to pee. He said "ok."
It worked for us! I let him hang out pantsless for a couple hours and every so often he would stop playing and go sit on the potty to pee. Then I would take it to the bathroom to clean it out and bring it back to him.
The only battle we had was that he didn't want to put on his diaper for naptime. He said he needed to go to the potty and then sat there...avoiding naptime...for ten minutes. So I made him put on his diaper to go to sleep, and he was very upset. Not sure how to handle that issue!!
I hope it gets easier and easier, OP!
ETA: we have this potty and a ring that sits directly on the toilet. He really likes the frog:
She is ready, we are not! But I think it will be nice to have no diapers for a little bit, depending on how fast she trains...
Now, how to get rid of the damn pacifier?
DD doesn't like to be naked. I've tried going that route. Also, the one time she was running around naked she just squatted and peed right where she was standing. I literally had no warning.
Also, when we try to get her to go potty on the toilet (we have both an actual potty chair like the one @Emerald27 has, and a step stool/padded toilet seat thing. She hates both) she screams like we are abusing her and flails to get off of it.
We also have a sticker reward chart hanging up right next to the toilet. She doesn't give a rats ass.
We also bought the "Princess Potty" book which comes with a princess tiara (dress-up is her favorite thing to do). She likes the book and the tiara but doesn't want to sit on the toilet.
We couldn't find any of the pacifiers one night and that night was hell. But after that night we decided it was time and she was surprisingly okay with it. I was so shocked because she was so attached to it. Every time she asked after that we told her our dog ate them all. : )

@MendozaAJ Pets are always great blaming tools. They don't even know they are being blamed either.
;;)
Can't wait for " I don't know where all the snickers bars went from your Halloween bucket. The dog must have ate them all." Muahaha. Poor doggie he's 5 years old now and much better at not destroying and chewing everything. Yet still gets the blame.
Maybe she's not quite ready?
I'm hoping that's all it is. But I am really feeling the pressure...she will be three the end of October.
Ooh their birthdays are close! She is 10/29
They eventually just get it one day. I had to bribe mine with bubbles and stickers

I would rather change diapers than worry about accidents right now, especially out in public. I'd like to get her trained by the end of the summer but I'm not sure she is ready. She is always SUPER wet in the morning and never seems to be dry or close to dry at any change.
I also don't know when we'll get rid of the paci. She doesn't have it at daycare but she wants it as soon as she gets home and she takes a drag off it like a smoker with a serious craving. They need to make a patch for pacis like a nicotine patch. She had her pacis the other day and clutched them to her chest and said "I missed my pacis." Her speech is really good and her teeth seem to be ok thus far.
