Ovidrel trigger shot- First time user

Has anyone not been successful at doing the BD once they did their trigger shot due to stress or pressure from the process itself? Has anyone still gotten pregnant even if the first time attempt didn't work but it worked the next two nights? I was told we needed to do "it" the night of the shot and the two nights after. I am scared that if all 3 nights are not successful this cycle will be wasted.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. What @IFinTN said. I wish I could give some advice about making babies the old fashioned way, but sadly, I'm lacking in experience there.

Try not to sweat one missed night. You have a window to work with, and it sounds like you still have a chance this cycle.

If it helps at all, typically you would expect to ovulate 24-48 hours after your trigger shot so I would imagine you still had decent timing

I'm currently on the two week waiting game. I took the Ovidrel trigger shot Sunday and was also given instructions to have intercourse that night and the following night. I'll definitely come back and post if it was successful. I go in this Saturday for my progesterone check up to see if my hormone levels are going up, so that should give us a good indication if conception occurred.

FYI, it almost didn't happen on the first night for us because my husband was having a hard time. I think it was too much pressure on him, so it didn't happen at the "exact" time we were instructed. But I was told the egg releases at approximately 36 hours after the trigger shot, so I wasn't too worried about missing the first night but I also didn't want to miss that window of opportunity. So I think as along as you did attempt the second night you should be good. Fingers crossed!!!

I obviously didn't know about the "read me first" and I don't appreciate you calling me rude. You could have simply stated that I needed to read that forum before commenting again. Thanks for making me feel like I'm insensitive when that is not the case!!

@fantasychica -- she said "You have not introed here and your BFP would be considered a "drive by" and very rude", and she's right.

At the top of our page is says, in all caps "READ ME FIRST". It is there to provide proper etiquette for posting so that you don't upset anyone.

shura12 -- try the Trouble TTC board. Pretty much everyone here aren't BD'ing (to get KU'd anyway) and are going through IVF.

At OP, are you using the Ovidrel just to jumpstart your cycle? Or with something else?

I took Ovidrel to jumpstart my cycle and it didn't work.

My SIL did Ovidrel with Femara for IUI and has yet to be successful.

Otherwise...I don't buy into the "stress" thing. Stress doesn't cause fertility issues. So don't worry about it.

@fastasychica - This is a tight-knit community of women, and we spent a lot of time working on ground rules to protect each other from hurt during these really difficult times. It's unfortunate that some women, like yourself, don't find the message boards in the way that we think they should--specifically, by clicking on the infertility forum link, where the "READ ME FIRST" thread is front and center. That post includes all the etiquette that posters should understand before jumping into the community. Obviously, people can post here without seeing it, or really understanding that the "Infertility forum" is an established community with norms and expectations. It does cause us pain, however, which is why people get told to read that post when they're clearly not following our norms. The OP of this thread shouldn't have posted here in the first place, as she's pretty off topic for the issues that the women in this forum are dealing with. I know it sounds to you like @IFinTN is being harsh, but really she is a champion defender of this community, and I, for one, am grateful for her efforts. I hope that your TTC journey ends happily soon. If you end up having difficulty, go to the Trouble TTC forum, which is filled with awesome supportive women. If you still have no baby and end up doing IVF, come here and meet the amazing women here. In the meantime, please be respectful of this community and the work we've put into building and protecting a supportive environment.

@ OP I think you have a 24-48 hour window before you ovulate when taking the shot. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I personally am still trying naturally to get pregnant between IVF I am mainly doing IVF because my husband is out of the country ( not military) and I also wanted some answers that only IVF could provide. It may very well be the only way I get a take home baby. @fantasychica‌ I wish you good luck with this cycle. If I was googling and found this question I would want to know what happened with you too. However some women who are experiencing infertility are very sensitive to things like this and may be upset by it. Just don't post back your bfp to avoid offense, and avoid responses you may find offensive as well. Send me a pm and let me know if it worked
