How long would you use this milk?

So I know what Kelly Mom and the storage guidelines say. Frozen milk is only good for 24 hours in the fridge. What would you all do in real life?
This week we moved across the state. I transported my frozen stash in a insulated lunch box with ice packs and in a big cooler with ice. Long story short my family put the frozen milk in the fridge on Tuesday night and I discovered the thawed milk today. What would y'all do? How long would you use it?

Awe man.. Could you re-freeze? I'd research that....

  • I'd feed the thawed milk and pump fresh and freeze that. As for the thawed, generally I follow the guidelines... but in that situation I would probably use the thawed until it didn't smell right.

  • And you can't refreeze thawed breastmilk.

I'd think not since you're not really supposed to refreeze things that have already been frozen and thawed, just in general. That sucks, OP! I hope it doesn't have to go to waste.

  • IRL I'd probably feed what I could use up in 24 hrs and refreeze the rest. If it turned out weird after all that or if the baby wouldn't take it, at that point I'd toss it. It's more of a flavor and nutrient issue than a safety issue. Truly spoiled breast milk has an obvious odor. You're not going to injure or kill a baby with milk that's been frozen and thawed more than recommend, even if it's slightly off.
