  • Hi -- I have PCOS. Tried for a baby for a year with no luck, started metformin (which regulated my cycles and helped me ovulate) and got pregnant with my son 4 months after that. Trying for #2 for 8 months now. Good luck to you!

  • Welcome and good luck!!

I too have PCOS. I was diagnosed in April, and this will my first cycle TTC. I'll be monitored while taking clomid bc I don't ovulate (I'm so glad that you have regular cycles!).
I have friends both with success stories and those who are still trying. Hopefully we will each be another success story!
  • Welcome. I have PCOS. I did not ovulate on my own for a long time and wouldn't even have withdrawal bleeding on BC. I started Metformin almost two years ago and my cycles started back up again almost immediately. I really recommend tracking your basal body temp- it is important to know if you're ovulating on your own to determine if treatment is needed!

PCOS isn't a fertility death sentence so just see what happens. If you're ovulating then try to time sex as best you can. If you have several anovulatory cycles it would be acceptable to seek a doctor's help since you have a PCOS diagnosis. Best of luck to you.

  • Welcome! I was diagnosed with PCOS in May. I'm on my 2nd month of Metformin. If I'm not KU by August, we're going to start with Femara. We've been trying for 21 months. After you've been trying for a while, please consider seeing an RE. While I love my OBGYN, my RE has been amazing to work with.

  • Welcome to the board. Please know that having PCOS does not definitely mean that you will have trouble, just that you may. If you're ovulating, that's a great indicator. If you do find yourself having multiple anovulatory cycles, please go see a RE not OBGYN. Good luck to you!

  • Welcome.  Another PCOS-er here.  I was diagnosed in high school and was on BC for years.  It took about a year and a half to get pregnant with my first child.  I'm now at a year this go around.  I've always had problems with irregular cycles so the fact that you have regular cycles is a good sign.  I second the temping thing.  I've been tracking my temps and finally have ovulated the last 2 cycles.  Good Luck to you!!!

Welcome! I also have PCOS. I was not ovulating at all after coming off bcp, but once I was prescribed metformin I started right away and got pregnant that first ovulatory cycle (February). Unfortunately that ended in a mmc at 11 weeks. We are trying again next cycle and I'm hoping the metformin does the trick again!

Best of luck! That's great that you are having regular cycles!

  • Hello and welcome.
I too have PCOS so you are definitely not alone.

First off, have you ever seen the Ellie and Jared blog? If i am not mistaken she too suffered from PCOS.  You can see it here... start at the beginning of their journey!!
They always give me an inspirational boost.

You're fortunate that you have regular cycles and ovulate.
I ovulate but it takes me FOREVER. Since I was just recently diagnosed I am trying to do things on my own this cycle and then get an HSG done so I know nothing else is causing problems and then go from there. Baby steps :)

Oh.. and I am also working on losing weight currently. PCOS girls sometimes struggle with that (like me) and just losing 10% of your body weight can sometimes get things on track again.

    We can do this!
    Good luck!
