Foster niece update

I've posted before about my brother's two foster daughters that they have had for a year and who they were trying to adopt since the mom had originally written them off. I thought if post the end of the story for those who asked for updates.

The oldest girl (2 1/2) has severe respiratory problems caused by her moms smoking when she was a baby, and ever since weekend visits with her mom started my brother and his wife have had to take her to the hospital almost every week because of them (the mom still smokes at home, the girl has stopped breathing a couple times in her sleep). The social worker and lawyer have been terrible and my brother was appealing for additional intervention from the agency. It never happened.

I don't know the details but today both girls went back to their mom full time. My brother had to leave the oldest at the hospital, and my SIL had to pack up everything for the one year old and her sister and hand her over. I any even imagine right now. They are so scared for those girls safety.

    How is this even possible?! Very infuriating. I truly hope nothing bad happens to these girls. The system is definitely broken.

    So scary for those little girls. How is there not an advocate for their health?? Praying for them to be safely returned to the parents who have acted in their best interest.

    That is so scary. Those poor little girls! I hope they are able to fight this and get their girls back.

    Like I said, I don't know the details. That's all my brother could get out on the phone. I don't know how much more they can fight it after a judge rules. We'll see

    Oh my God, that is awful. I am so, so sorry for your family @amberliz99. My heart breaks for those little girls and for your brother and SIL.

    That is heartbreaking. Those poor girls. It makes me so sad when I hear of a system that is supposed to protect children doing the opposite. I hope someone does something and sees these children returned to your brother and SIL
