Mamas with eczema

I've always had eczema, but it's getting worse pp. The flare up on my hands never seem to heal completly even with corticosteroid cream/ointment. My doctor said it's hormonal (I BF) and related to stress and the lack of sleep. Also, obviously, because my hands are often in contact with hot water. I remember that my skin got better almost a year after I had DS1. This time I'm looking for fast results.

Any tricks and tips?

I made a scrub with coconut oil, vitamin E oil and a few drops of lavender EO mixed in some sugar. I scrubbed my legs every night and it helped SO much.

  • Overnight Emolient cream does wonders for me. I'm partial to the Mary Kay brand, it's $14 and does wonders.

  • Thanks girls!
@sking72‌ do you have to wear cotton gloves in addition to the cream?
  • Nope, it doesn't soak in right away, so some people like to wear gloves with it, but it won't stain so I never use gloves with it. A lot of times I put it on just using the backs of my hands (rubbing them together) so I can still get things done.

This is exactly what I have! Well, minus the sugar, so mine is more of a lotion. I'm totally trying this as a scrub though!

  • No tips. Just want to say my eczema on my neck is back after being gone for 4 yrs. Glad you brought this up bc I never thought of it being a PP thing.

  • @jenskurn‌ I feel your pain! I hate having eczema on my neck. The skin there is so thin, plus the rash is usually visible :(

I guess I will try this coconut oil/vitamin E lotion and update this discussion soon.
  • I also have it on my hands and it never goes away. Thanks for the tips. I have tried a lot of OTC creams/ointments, etc with no relief. Thanks again!

  • I forgot to mention that switching to a Paleo-type "diet" has helped my eczema tremendously. When I slip, I get a flare up. Breads and sugars seem to be the biggest offender for me. It's not the easiest way of eating to stick to, but for me the benefits have been pretty dramatic.
  • @Blaurier09‌ I know! Mine is in my hair line and leaves flakes in my hair. There is a liquid steroid cream that helps a lot, but burns!
