How long do you leave LO in swing?

Just feeling a little guilty, but my little guy has been in his swing going on about 45 mins while I do laundry and meal prep for tonight. Usually I can get all this in during his nap, but he's wide awake just swinging. He's content in his swing, just wondering how long you ladies feel comfortable leaving LO in there.... I feel like I should be doing something with him instead of worrying about chores.

Re: How long do you leave LO in swing?

  • I don't think my little guy would ever been content in there for that long haha. Either he falls asleep within 10 minutes or he is crying to get out after looking at the mobile for a few minutes. If you don't leave him in their on a regular basis I wouldn't feel too guilty about getting a few things done while he hangs out.

  • As long as she's happy she would stay in her bouncy chair. Sometimes she sleeps in it for a few hours, sometimes she sits in it for a while when I make dinner. If she starts fussing I take her out - no biggie.

  • We just got the most basic swing ever and she lovessss it. If she is awake I'll take her out and put her under her gym After a little while or I will wait until she has had enough. If she's asleep I will let her sleep for however long she wants.

    It's a BOY

  • Thanks guys, mom guilt is the worst! Here he is going on an hour listening to pandora and watching those bird things....

Guess my house will be super clean!

  • I leave my LO in her swing or RNP for however long she wants right now. Once she's older and able to sit up and actually play, I won't be keeping her in there as long. But I'm big on not holding babies all the time, I've seen moms do this and it's never good. I do feel guilty at times when I'm busy doing stuff and she's in her RNP most of the day, because she sleeps in there too. But, can't lay her flat due to reflux so not many options for me.

I envy you!!! The most I've been able to keep my LO sleeping in swing is ~ 25 minutes and that's only been a handful of times in her 7 weeks if life. My apt is a disaster. ;)
  • Mine will only tolerate about 10 minutes and same for bouncy chair. I lay him in a mini crib with a toy bar he can reach and play with and thats still for only about 10-15 min max
