Re: Grocery Poll #2

  • prob $300. NYC is expensive, yo. Plus we eat a lot of fresh produce and as much organic as possible. This doesn't include the CSA I joined where I get farm fresh eggs, veggies, and fruit. Its just not enough to feed us all week. Thats prob another $40 a week on top of that.

  • We average about $150.

  • It depends usually once a month we spend $200. Then throughout the month we spend $100 or less just buying milk, bread, produce, etc. and then we try to go to Sam's every 6-8 months and buy our big items. Sam's items are normally paper towels, toilet paper, all our meat items, and some can goods or snack items. We also buy our wipes at Sam's.
  • Usually around $150, but that's if I have to buy toiletries and cleaning supplies. Without that I can usually get out of the store for ~$120

  • Probably about $100. Our farm share is income based so we get them for super cheap. Hooray for being poor. #notreally If it wasn't for that it might a little bit more.

  • I voted $200 but it varies between $200 and $300 a week. We go to Costco every two weeks for a big shop and then I usually make a trip to the local grocery store or farmers market once or twice a week for fresh fruit and veggies and other small items. We live on an island though and it is definitely more expensive than the mainland.

  • I voted $100 a week or less, but it's probably more than that. We shop for everything every 2 weeks and keep it under $200. If I need something randomly throughout the week, then I go get it. So slightly more than $100/week

I voted 100 or less, but should really be ss....I buy 1/4 cow from a local farm once a year--and freeze it. Some veggies I also blanch and can or freeze. And then there's a fish market I visit too that sells in bulk, and I #freezeallthethings.
Do you butcher it yourself or is it already all cut up and stuff?
it's cut and packed in smaller freezer portions. you can pick (1-3lb packages i think), thickness of steaks, etc. after butcher fees, everything came back to 4 something a pound for local, organic grass fed. totally worth it if you have the freezer space.

  • SS: no effing clue.

  • Usually less than $100 but sometimes a little over.  I only go grocery shopping once every 3 weeks or so, but I'm about to change to menu planning every week and doing shopping on Sunday.  I think I will get less stuff that I end up throwing out from not using that way.

  • Before DS had issues, I did a lot more couponing, sale hopping, etc. and definitely spent significantly less than $100 per week. Now it's probably right around $80, a bit more if I need to stock up on sale items.
