Did anyone do PGD and/or have to wait a while between ER and FET?

Hi All,

Looking to see if anyone here did PGD (Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis) and what your experience was as far as how long it took for the genetics lab to make a diagnosis?  Also interested to hear experiences of what to expect for the FET?  What meds did you do prior, any diet or lifestyle changes while you were waiting to hear back from the Genetics?

I'm currently about to have my second ER this weekend (we only had 3 make it to freeze with round 1 IVF) and then will be sending all biopsies to be tested for CMT (Charcot Marie Tooth Disease), which I have.  We will then be doing a FET with embryos that do not test positive for CMT.  I've been told we are looking at anywhere between 4-12 weeks for results though.

TIA for any insight, experiences you've have or thoughts.

TTC since March 2010, BFP #1 11.09.10, ectopic, m/c 12.14.10 (10w)

    Welcome!

I did CCS, not PGD, so the results for the frozen embies came in two weeks. I'm starting my first FET soon, and there are a couple of thread you might want to read.
    Lifestyle choices
    FET cycle variation

    Good luck to you!!

  • hi :) we are doing PGD and are not even going ahead with stim's until the lab can confirm they can make the probe for us.  It's been about 2 months...then there will be at least 4 cycles after the lab go ahead before a potential FET *if* we have non-sick embryos.  The waiting is hard :( I'm frustrated big time.

I  hope you are OK after getting rid of the tubes.  I had a rough recovery. I still feel pain from scarring after 6 years.

  • Thank you all! Yes, the waiting def sucks!! We were told that a new technology made the probe only take 4 weeks, however they have to have 5d embryos to biopsy, and our lab did 3d last IVF without checking. I was livid. The other way takes 12 weeks. Now we are praying that this ER is better and we can push for 5d. Best of luck @pblge for your upcoming FET!!!
