Trying to Get Pregnant

Skipping the hsg... For now

For now I'm skipping the hsg, DH and I have decided to try clomid for a few cycles before bothering with hsg for determination of possible septate, officially diagnosed as bicornuate uterus. I've read the success stories of those who opt for hsg and septate removal but for now we'll take our chances.

  • I'd rather do the HSG than take the clomid... but that's just me.

  • Why? You could totally be wasting money on these cycles. Structural issues could cause loss. Why would you want to risk it to avoid an HSG? Are your tubes clear?  I'm sorry, I don't get it. Your money, your body, but I do not understand.

Me: IR-PCOS, elevated DHEAs, low progesterone, weak ovulation  DH: low volume, low T
SHG 5/10/13: both tubes blocked; HSG 6/28 = Left tube cleared! Right blocked.

    New RE June 2014. RPL b/w - negative. SIS looking for uterine/cervical abnormalities & Asherman's 6/10/14 - ALL CLEAR!
    Cycle 16: Natural IUI = CP, Cycle 17: Femara (2.5) + IUI = BFN, Cycle 18 Femara (5) + IUI = BFFN, Cycle 19: Break

  • Actually I've seen a specialist and my tubes are not blocked, I also have pcos and I've used clomid before and it worked, I switched doctors and the new one sent me for a consult with a doc in a different city who just wants to be sure.

Even though I personally didnt have any side effects from my low dose of clomid it's no picnic!!! An HSG would be a more reasonable route! It can be an easy fix/answer instead of unnecessarily medicating yourself for no reason! I did all the routine checks before even considering meds as do most girls here. And I will add they did discover an abnormality during my HSG and subsequent saline u/s that resulted in a hysteroscopy procedure. It's better to have all the answers is what I'm trying to convey.

If your doctor thought it warranted a referral to another doctor "just to be sure", why do you disagree? You baffle me.

ETA: I have PCOS too, what does that have to do with wanting to skip an HSG to diagnose possible structural issues?

@ExcitedSoon2BeMom‌ , sorry you feel that way I was just giving you my insight from my personal experience. Just curious if you already had this why does your RE suggest an HSG?

Edit- nevermind I saw your response above.

  • I wasn't saying you were being negative it's just that most of the other responses were women acting like they are still in grade school with the name calling and all that and I just don't have time to deal with adults acting like children, if they don't like my decision it's their right to say so but I don't have to put up with rudeness. They are all on ignore, I wish I knew how to delete their comments too but I'm a newbie to the boards so.
  • I had all my testing done with my old doctor, when I got married in October my insurance changed and so did my doctor, this doctor wanted to start from scratch and even he said don't take the specialists advice if I don't feel like it's needed. The specialist himself even said it's just a suggestion.

You can't delete comments. Please point out to us where anyone was acting like a child. I don't see it.

  • No one is looking for a pat on the back, I was looking for adults and while all the women on ignore are still posting I'm starting to doubt that any of them have made past the age of 16 mentally, there's so much hatred in the world and for a site to allow such things just sucks! Oh well I'm leaving the website because it's just too much negativity from lots of hurting and angry, lost ppl. I will keep all of you in my prayers and I hope you all find love to replace the hard feelings that rule your hearts. Out of the mouth overflows the heart... I feel for you all, this motivates me to turn to God more than ever on behalf of a dying world in need of Christ.

  • Seriously OP if your still here @jalara48‌ gave some damn good advice! Clomid does cause hyperovulation. I conceived my twins with no intervention and my uterus was "normal" and I still spent 4 months on bed rest and went into labor 6 times, the first time was at 23 weeks, don't screw around!

So because you're a god freak it gives you special permission to be insulting back to people and it's ok? It's this christian hypocrisy which drove me from religion in the first place many years ago.  I don't want or need your ugly soul prayers, stop spewing them in my direction.
