Health and fitness check in 7/9

Okay ladies! Lots if you wanted a check in, so why not start it now. As this is the inaugural checkin thread please comment things you'd like to see, not see, if Wednesday suits you, and whatever else you salty hoes have to say.

I know a lot of you have not yet been cleared to workout, and those who are have likely been told to ease into it. So, let's ease into it.

    1. I am back on myfitnesspal logging my food and will set up my fitbit when it arrives. I am feeling mostly better but am only 4 weeks pp so will just be walking for now.

    2. My goals for this week are to log all of my food and to go for a walk on any day that I have help with the kids.

  • Yay, thanks for starting this thread @jshrop!

    I'm not cleared to do much yet, but my OB said to walk as much as I want so that's what we're doing. DH and I took LO to the mall yesterday and walked about 2 miles with her in the stroller. I hope we can do a nice walk outside today since it's a little cooler than it has been.

    Favorite healthy snack right now is fresh watermelon!

    1. I am seriously trying to just stick to anything despite sleep deprivation. I tried to start P90X last week but found myself too exhausted to make it through.

    2. I am doing a 30 day buns, guns, and abs challenge. It takes about 10 minutes or less and it's seriously helped me start rebuilding my an strength. I can finally sit up in bed without using my arms! I challenged this girl of FB (she drives me crazy and I'd hate to lose to her) to help keep me accountable.

    3. Favorite snack: cut up apples with pb2, coconut flakes, and a few chocolate chips on top. So yummy and feels like a real dessert! :)

  • I am so ready to get in shape! I was not in the best shape before getting pregnant...so I've got some work to do. Tomorrow is my 6wk pp check so hopefully I'll be given the all clear!

    1. How are you trying to be healthier this week?
    I've been trying to eat well and make sure I get some amount of walking and movement in. My toddler 'helps' with this as we can't make it through a day with at least some walk or chasing after her :)

    2. What are you health/fitness goal(s) for the week?
    I used to use the app Lose It for tracking food and exercise. I'd like to get back into that.

    3. GTKY: what's your favorite healthy snack?
    Berries!
  • 1. I'm trying to walk every day. I did run a little today, but my stupid boobs are so enormous that it hurt :(

  • Yey! I am hoping this thread gives me a boost of accountability to stick with my goals...

    1. How are you trying to be healthier this week? Watching what I eat.  I know if I can control the cravings and avoid convenience food I will make some progress.  Its easier said than done with the sleep deprivation, toddler and newborn though!

    2. What are you health/fitness goal(s) for the week? Log my food in MFP daily.

    3. GTKY: what's your favorite healthy snack? Trail mix - salty, sweet and filling.

  • 1. How are you trying to be healthier this week?
    Trying to start exercising, though I'm only 3.5weeks pp. I walked 2 miles minday and Tuesday, and also did 10 minutes of light weights yesterday. Felt great! Had a rough night last night so it will be hard to motivate today.

    2. What are you health/fitness goal(s) for the week?
    Eat healthier. We've been mostly paleo this week, so that's good!

    3. GTKY: what's your favorite healthy snack?
    Smoothie, baby carrots, nuts

    1. Goal this week is to take better care of myself, namely by making sure I'm eating and drinking enough water. I have been bad about this!

    2. My goal is to drink a full glass of water every time I nurse and/or pump along with a snack.

    3. I love apples and pb, kind bars, popcorn, fruit, yogurt and granola. Mm.

    1 - DH and I are both trying to eat healthier this week... increasing the veggies, particularly.

    2 - My goal is to walk a little further every time I . Walking is I can do right now, and I find that it hurts if I do too much even at 3w pp, so I'm trying to build some endurance/strength back up.

    3 - Smoothies! 1/2 frozen banana, ff yogurt, a little milk, pb & frozen fruit

  • 1. How are you trying to be healthier this week? Cooking more balanced meals with veggies (we used to do a lot of one dish meals that were sadly lacking in veggies)

    2. What are you health/fitness goal(s) for the week? I'm only 4 weeks PP, so no exercise yet, but trying to drink more water and be more active around the house.  I'd love to be able to go on walks, but there's no way in this heat.  Also, I'm looking into ordering T25...I have Insanity and enjoy it, but with trying to work out between DD's naps, I think T25 might be more doable.

    3. GTKY: what's your favorite healthy snack? Green apples and peanut butter (or nutella)
  • I'm really trying to continue my GD diet. It left me in a really good place with my weight and I'm already 8-9 pounds under what I weighed when I got pregnant this time around. I still have 13-14 more pounds to lose to get back to my original pre-pregnancy weight and I really think I can do it!

    Im focusing on abdominal exercises that encourage the transverse abs to grow back together. That and cardio will be my main focus with some arms and legs thrown in for good measure. I'm hoping to get cleared for real exercise at my PP checkup on Monday!

    I love almonds and grapes! Also, whole grain crackers with cheese!

  • 1) I'm trying to eat healthier snacks and drink more water.

    2) I went on a mile walk outside with Norah in her stroller. It was the only 40 minutes she's slept since this morning. I'm going to try to walk for 15 minutes every day.

    3) Fruit salad! Hummus and Triscuits or carrots.
  • 1. More water, healthier snacks (and more of them, since i forget to eat sometimes), and walks.

    2. Plan to go on 3-45 min walks with LO and our dog. And I joined the mfp group.

    3. Special K red berries + choc, with added strawberries and whole milk.

  • 1. Drinking water, walking, being patient with the healing process.

    2. To walk every other day or so. Also always have water on hand so I know I get enough. Also allowing myself to sit and just be. I'm only 2 weeks pp, so I know I shouldn't try running or anything crazy. I read a lot of blogs while pregnant on running, and several said their biggest regret was that they ran too soon after giving birth.

    3. Definitely fruit, right now it's watermelon and fresh from the tree peaches!

    1. Making dinner every night. During the end of my pregnancy we got really bad at eating fast food...we NEED to cut down on that!

    2. I'm starting to go for a walk every other day for at least 45 mins. We love right by a canal, so the scenery makes it nice and relaxing. I'm not counting the mall etc, those walks are extra!

  • Great idea for a thread!

    1. How are you trying to be healthier this week?
    Trying to walk w the husband and ds every day or every other day. I am not cleared to do anything yet, but I'll do some stretching and light yoga too. Chugging water 24/7

    2. What are you health/fitness goal(s) for the week?
    Walking, stretching, eating less of the chocolate people bought us when the b

    Strawberries, bananas and peanut butter. I think I'll make a smoothie today..

  • 1. Decrease how many times we eat out which means I gotta start cooking again…ugh, lol

    1. How are you trying to be healthier this week?
    Trying to drink more water (failing miserably), and forcing myself to eat more of a balanced meal.. All I do is grab a snack or fruit because cooking or making something takes too long and I would rather be sleeping. Such a bad habbit I have gotten myself into!

    2. What are you health/fitness goal(s) for the week?
    I would love to start walking again.. But 3 weeks PP my vagina is still trying to heal and hurts too much =[ even sitting makes it sore =\ it freaking sucks. My poor dogs have been so neglected!

    3. GTKY: what's your favorite healthy snack?
    Fruit and veggie juices!! I did those everyday when pregnant! Now im just too tired to spend the time cutting the fruit and veggies to make one =[ ughh.
