Should I be happy or worried?

DS has started sleeping for 10-12 hrs without waking up at night. I know I know I shouldn't complain, sleeping is amazing. But just last week his longest was 6 hours and he would wake up to eat a 4 oz bottle and he went from 6 hrs right to 12. He's only 3.5 months old. Is this too young to sleep so long at night without eating? I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if I should call his Dr or just be uber grateful that he's sleeping. Thanks ladies

  • My son has been sleeping 9-12 hours without MON feeding since about 5 weeks. Pediatrician is happy for us! As long as he eats well during the day, I don't think it's a problem.
  • Our LO slept from 10pm to 7am this morning and when I woke up (at 5am) I had a panicked moment b/c I thought surely she must have stopped breathing in the night. Nope, just sleeping.

    I bet it won't last.

  • My son is 12 weeks old and has been sleeping 12 straight hours for 7 weeks now. Don't worry.
  • Sometimes we get a long stretch of sleep like that. I pray for those nights. Most are 4hr stretches but those one a week 8hr nights are to die for. I say enjoy it.
  • Thanks for the reassurance, this is exciting even if it's only temporary

  • I woke up after 6 hours and pumped because he was still sleeping and my boobs woke me up. But I'm an EP'er anyways

  • I'm so jealous. Formula here and his longest stretch is 4 hours. Kill me now.
  • We have a sleeper too. I do wake him because he's a slow weight gainer so we're trying to push his weight gain up a little. If it wasn't for this, I'd 100% let him sleep. Enjoy it!!
How long does your lo sleep during the day?
  • The nights he sleeps better he takes shorter naps during the day. Usually and hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon and cat naps in the evening before bedtime around 9

If he's hungry, he'll wake you.

Enjoy! I started offering more at morning and night feeds (6 oz instead of 4) when my girls started going longer stretches. They ate the same as before in a 24 hr stretch, but clustered within fewer feedings.
