Bouncing on stability ball

I am due in 4 days and have my
final check this Thursday morning. I haven't been dilated or effaced at all so we bought a stability ball today I've been bouncing on. Has anyone tried this? I know it doesn't mean anything to not be dilated yet, but I figure anything can help.

Re: Bouncing on stability ball

  • I bounced pretty much my entire last month with both my pregnancies.

  • I bounce too, not sure it helps at all but it feels good to me to be so weightless! :)

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

  • What does bouncing do? Just up and down or side to side or what?

  • Sitting on my ball as I type  :)

Its more comfortable than sitting on the couch at this point since his head is so low. If I sit on the couch I just feel his head grinding in my pelvis.

I bounce, rock side to side, do figure-8s with my hips. It relieves pressure in my pelvis and lower back.

  • I do figure 8's, bounce, side to side...I know there are probably vid tutorials online for this, I haven't looked at any though. The ball is more comfy than my couch!

  • I don't know if it helps with dilation, but I bounce and rock to help relive back/hip/pelvic pain.

Being on the ball helps relieve pressure on the lower back and pelvis. Also helps open up the hips to get baby in a good position for birth.

I bounced on it for the last month and it helped the discomfort a lot. Didn't help get anything going, though! My water broke at 39 weeks and I still had to be induced. Only a finger tip dilated.

  • I did it a few times, but I wound up using it a lot more in labor as something to lean on.
  • I used my stability ball a lot the last month to help relieve pelvic pain.  I also used it pretty much the entire time I was in early labor to try to help move things along, but I don't know if it really helped or not...felt nice though.
  • I used it quite a bit with last pregnancy.  I haven't pulled it out this pregnancy.

  • I'm always sitting on mine to relieve the pressure that is constantly there now.  The rocking really helps things to feel better.  I'm 50% effaced but no dilation yet so don't think it really helps with that but it keeps me from aching as much!
