Temping and sleep pattern concerns

This is my first month temping, but we have been TTC for a few months. My husband is in the military, so he is gone for stretches of time. However, when he is home he leaves very early in the morning. I started temping this month while he was gone for a few weeks. I religiously slept from about 10:30pm until 7am... Then took my temp as soon as I woke up.

Now that he is home, he gets up at different hours in the very early morning and I wake up a lot throughout the night/morning. I am just concerned about how this will affect (or already is affecting) my temp accuracy. I am at toward the end of my TWW, so I am really watching my temps. Any advice, opinions or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Congrats, you ovulated. Temp charts aren't magical. If it shows you ovulated, it worked.

  • Looks like a pretty good chart to me. Try not to overanalyze your temps too much and just let FF do it's thing. You will go crazy if you try to analyze every detail of this process

  • Thanks for your responses!!! I am really trying not to analyze.... I just know once the temps start dropping AF is on her way, so I don't want my sleep patterns to throw it off too much and I start getting my hopes up for a BFP or anything. I am also worrying about if I temp next will temps be thrown off to much to clear see O.

  • Everyone is different, for me it does not matter what time I temp, just that I get 3 hours of sleep. Many times it is not even a perfect 3 hours but close enough and I can see my shift. Some people need to be at the same time everyday to make it work. Only time will tell which camp you fall in.

Hopefully, I fall into your camp, or it will be a difficult road ahead. I like temping a lot ... Just have to make sure I am doing the best I can to keep it accurate

  • When I was still breastfeeding, my wake times were all over the place based on when/if my son woke at night.  I set my alarm for 2:30 am every morning and took my temp then, just because it was constant.

  • I might have to consider doing that next cycle (if no BFP). Whatever helps the process along... So anxious to see a positive!
