Trying to Get Pregnant

Help! TTC and I have a ton of questions for you Momma's out there

My boyfriend and I cut all birth control from our sex lives for about 6 or more months now.
We have sex about 4-5 times a week, at least.
Is it too early for my Tri-Cyclen Lo to be out of my system?
He is a few years older than I am but still young, a smoker, and already has one child. I'm young, a touch overweight (10-15 pounds), don't smoke, occasional drinker (3 times a year, max.), and have no kids. Neither of us are lazy, but we're also not that active.
Is there possibly something wrong or are we just impatient?
My cycle is usually on a 28 day normality. I have taken nearly 10 pregnancy tests and just keep getting disappointed. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, I'm just starting to worry.

  • Hey there! Are you temping to confirm ovulation? You can get pregnant even while using BCP so I would say it's out of your system by now 6 months is a long time. Keep in mind you only have a 20% every cycle to get pregnant and it can take a healthy couple with no fertility issues a year to get pregnant. HTH

  • No its not too early for your birth control to be out of your system. My cycles normalized around the 2nd month but every one is different so don't go off my experience.

Also, it can take up to a year for a healthy couple to get pregnent.

You should read the newbie blog. LOTS of useful information that can probably answer most of your questions.

And finally, I would talk to your doc about your concerns. They would be the better choice for any questions you have.

It can take a healthy couple up to a year to conceive. Each month, you have a max 15-20% chance of getting pregnant, and that's if everything is ideal.

The best way to maximize your chance is to have sex during your fertile window leading up to and including ovulation day. This can change monthly for various reasons. The best way to know when you ovulate is by temping, checking your CM, and possibly also your cervix position and/or using OPKs.

Read the Newbie blog posted at the top of the board. I'd also recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" - it's a great resource and has all the info you need to get started with tracking your signs and symptoms.

    Good luck.

Edited for words and stuff. :)
