The postpartum poop section had me in tears. TMI.... I refused to poop for a week after DD was born bc of all the horror stories I had heard during/after pregnancy about the pain. And here we are again signing up freely lol. Clearly I would do it again for the sweet LO you get out of the deal.
That was scary! The other day I was lurking on the October 2014 board here and they had a threat going about things they didn't expect about the birth/after birth process for all of the first time moms. Let's just say I was shocked and ran to my mom asking if all of it was true...

Can't stop giggling. Oh so true. Ohhhhh so true. The loss of shame, the "oh crap something just fell out of me", the post partum poop. And having had magnesium for pre-e, yes just yes.
You gotta hand it to those nurses though, they are wicked slick. When I needed all my bedding replaced because of a "torrential postpartum downpour", she oh so discreetly had my guests exit the room for a "quick check up." Whipped that red soaked sheet set off the bed before you could blink and boom 2 seconds later, good as new.
Also, the first postpartum pee where the nurse escorts you into the bathroom to "see how much you are bleeding." Shame BE GONE.
Oops, getting in on this without doing an official intro... Hope that's ok.
But sweet Jesus it's all true, especially the pooping. I had a med free 18 hour labor (which doesn't mean that much except it was my goal and I was proud to accomplish it) and I was still a sobbing mess sitting on that toilet a few days later. Nope nope nope.
And I had almost forgotten about it.
Haha I definitely cried for that first poop, mostly the anticipation. I was afraid to just go for it, so I sat there crying instead. My husband was sure I had lost it.
Yup, yup. I had a med-free birth the first time and our Doula said "Don't worry, mommies get amnesia and you won't remember how bad it all is by the time you get pregnant again." I said "How long does that take?" Doula: "About 6 months". D'oh. Well, it's only been 5 (though almost six) and I'm here to say I still remember everything in HD detail.
That little squirty bottle they send you home with? I honest to goodness panicked if I didn't have it in my sight in the bathroom at all times. That thing was my holy grail. Filled with fresh cool water ahhhhhh.
I still have the 3 I've amassed in various places around my house. Waiting, ever ready, so I don't lose them.
Hell yes. I had one in all 4 bathrooms so that wherever I had to go, there was one there. And Tucks. Tucks were my best friend.
