Deactivated my Facebook

And it feels good. I deleted the fb app from my phone a month or two ago and decided I should just deactivate. Apparently people have tried to reach me via fb and I feel bad that I never respond.

I swear before I did this, I would open fb and see a new pregnancy announcement. Every. Single. Time. I feel so free :).

Anyone else thinking about leaving fb in the dust?

Re: Deactivated my Facebook

  • I used to deactivate FB periodically then I decided to just delete people from my friends list who were annoying and/or I hadn't seen in 12 months or more. That allows me to keep up with my real friends and family (that I like) and not be blindsided by some townie from high school complaining about getting pregnant with her 4th kid. It works for me but I know some people (like my DH) prefer to delete it altogether and actually live in the real world.

I deactivated it before my last cycle. Don't miss it, although there are a few people I've fallen out of touch with. I'm with you on the pregnancy announcements. This was in my siggie for a while:

  • I deleted the app from my phone earlier this year and occasionally I will take a look at it in my browser if I'm super bored.

Definitely a good decision for me and not just as it relates to IF! At least I just hear pregnancy announcements in person from people I know, versus some random people from high school posting them!
Tried for two years, finally a BFP!

I agree. It had been a good choice not just because of IF. I was spending too much time on there.. Now I can devote that time to this board instead. Ha!! At least this one makes me feel better rather than worse :)

I have deleted FB app from my phone but, still have the account. I do check regularly on the computer. None of my friends announce there pregnancies, until they have the baby, but it hurts to see someone have a baby right after another.

(P.S my friends list is mostly Indians and Pakistani's, who dont like announcing pregnancies to the whole world)
