Re: Bumbo
I cannot believe we are talking about Bumbos! I feel like it was just yesterday when we were all reading birth stories. Time is going by so fast!
Ours was a hand me down so it is at least 5 years old
DS loves his bumbo but only for a few minutes at a time.

Anyone else putting stock in this idea or am I being an uptight geriatric parent? A friend gave us a hand-me-down Bumbo and I was planning to leave it in the basement.

Yeah I saw a post about bumbo's on some other board (maybe 3-6 month board?) yesterday also. The most important fix bumbo made, in my opinion at least, was that they changed the picture on the box (they probably put warnings in the manual also, I don't know cause I never bought one). But the box used to have a picture of a baby in a bumbo that was sitting on a table.
I voted don't have one don't care, b/c I don't think they are baby killers or anything if they aren't on an elevated surface, but if I did have one I wouldn't use it like a bouncy seat or swing where a child can be put for 10 minutes while you step away to do something real quick.
I'd probably sit next to my kid, just because I thought the issue they had were with kids falling over in the seat (as in bringing the seat over with them), so I don't see how a seat belt fixes that (although, again, I haven't used one). Not putting them on an elevated surface keeps your kid from probably cracking their skull, but I wouldn't think it would necessarily keep them from toppling.
