Stuttering or more like stammering?

I just a baby who is now 4 weeks. My 2-1/2 year old started stammering sentences about the same time. It's not a true stutter more like I, I, I , I...,and he cannot finish his thought. He even gives up and says "I can't say it." It's heartbreaking I feel so bad for him. He used to talk perfect before, is it the change with the baby? What should I do?

I'm pretty sure stammering is normal for this age. They know the words and know how to form the sentences, but getting them together is tough. DS went through a stammering phase and still occasionally stammers when he's very excited about something or wants to tell us very fast...he gets ahead of himself and can't say what he wants to say.

I would be very patient with lots of snuggles and understanding. If you know what he's trying to say, maybe help him through the sentence?
And let him know that it's ok to slow down or try again. Repeating his sentences back to him but correctly can help too, because hearing it helps.

Patience. It's developmentally normal. Their mouths can't keep up with their brains. It has nothing to do with baby.

That's pretty normal for that age. Their brain processes thoughts faster than they are able to put them into words. It causes stammering and frustration on their part, but generally is something that they will outgrow.

My daughter did this for a few months, and has since almost stopped on her own after 3-4 months I think.
