Almost got it to work this time- TB only cut off the GTKY question.

GTKY:  If you've thought about it, what are your childbirth plans (epidural/pain meds, natural/med free, home birth, planned c-section, etc)?

    17 weeks -- onion!

If you’re far enough along, are you having a boy or girl or are you team green?

    Team Green!

    How are you feeling?

Feeling pretty good! Minor pregnancy complaints but in general, not bad!

    Favorite moment of the week?

Yesterday was pretty awesome; we did all sorts of stuff around the house, SO mowed/edged the lawn in our new house for the first time, I tried out a new recipe (to partial success), and we snuggled after watching TV. It was a lovely domestic day/evening!

Least favorite moment of the week?

$$$$. I know the first couple weeks in a new house are expensive, but boy, seeing it is crazy. Realizing all we have to stock up on in the next months with baby, a new climate (hello cold weather gear), maybe a new car, etc was feeling pretty overwhelming.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?

Aches and pains are more common, nosebleeds almost everyday, but overall, not too much to complain about!

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?

Doing okay after the last appt; hearing the heartbeat again and feeling kicks/movement every so often has been great. Looking forward to more regular kicks!

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?

Next appt is July 31 for A/S!!!

GTKY:  If you've thought about it, what are your childbirth plans (epidural/pain meds, natural/med free, home birth, planned c-section, etc)?
Plan is to go natural/med free in a birthing center (connected to a hospital). I had an epi with DS and it was wonderful... but it also made my labor go crazy fast and I tore like crazy. My hope is that I can avoid that this time with a natural labor.

How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you?  23 weeks, grapefruit (I'm starting to get annoyed with the bump's fruit comparisons, I don't see any difference in the fruits I've had for the past month!)

How are you feeling?  Pretty good, heartburn has returned.

Favorite moment of the week?  I had a 4-day weekend and used my extra day off to get a pedicure and finish cleaning out the office closet to fit more stuff in.  The nursery is now just about empty of non-baby stuff minus 1 empty shelf and 1 rolled up area rug!

Least favorite moment of the week?  Got into an argument with H over the weekend related to his family.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?  Heartburn is back, constipation seems to be coming back here and there too, so I guess a little worse but still not too bad overall.  I am starting to feel huge though, all of my weight gain (which is in line with what my dr wants me to gain) has been in my stomach so I look a lot bigger than 23 weeks.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?  Still pretty good, movement helps a lot!

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?  Next appointment is on Friday this week just for a quick check-up.

GTKY:  If you've thought about it, what are your childbirth plans (epidural/pain meds, natural/med free, home birth, planned c-section, etc)?  Unless I end up needing a c-section, I'm open to the idea of an epidural but I'd like to try to hold out for as long as I can without meds just in case I can handle it, cause I still have a big needle phobia.  As a FTM and since I'm in the 2nd half of pregnancy now, the realities of childbirth are starting to terrify me a little!

  • @rox825 - I've been reading Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and will probably hire a doula. I think we will take a childbirth class, but I'm just not sure which one yet. The birthing center has the tubs and showers, so my hope is to birth in the tub, but we'll see if that's available on labor day. SO also has a book to read on how to be a supportive birth partner so that he can be less nervous.

How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you?

    5 weeks/appleseed

    How are you feeling?

Pretty good still.  Over the holiday weekend I was pretty nauseous like the ENTIRE weekend, but that has since subsided.  I realized that eating large meals actually is a terrible idea and that little meals throughout the day are a better choice.  Other than the nausea, I'm just peeing up a storm and living in my sports bras.

    Favorite moment of the week?

Going to the doctor's office last week and having my Lovenox injection training.  It made it a lot more real for me that this pregnancy is really happening.  I also started my beta testing with 314.5 @ 16 dpo, 563.9 @ 18 dpo, and 1209.0 @ 20 dpo!  This is making it waaaay more real!

Least favorite moment of the week?

My issues with getting my Lovenox injections from my pharmacy! They were just so behind because of the holiday weekend and it just stressed me out!  I did my first injection this morning (well, DH did) and it wasn't too terrible, but I'm going to have to work myself up to doing it on my own.  I just have to keep reminding myself it is for my baby!

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?

Just sore boobs, peeing like a racehorse, some cramping at night and some slight nausea. Nothing really new which I'm okay with.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?

I was a little nervous when the first set of bets numbers didn't double, but feel WAY better about the third number!  I'm trying not to think to much about things going wrong, but I'm also trying not to get TOO excited about things either.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?

I think we're taking a childbirth class at the hospital, but they don't have birth tubs or balls or any of the supportive stuff that you'd find at a birth center.  They do offer a born free class also but since I'm open to the epidural if I feel like I need it, I almost think it would be a waste to take that class, like if I'm not totally committed to the natural birth idea I'm most likely going to cave and get the epi.  Maybe I'll check out that book as a starting point!

@LiaMadi1 When I had 1st tri nausea the only thing that really worked was constant snacking and small meals throughout the day.  I was literally eating something every hour!  Oh and sea bands helped, but I know they don't help everyone.  B6 didn't do anything for me.

    18 wks - sweet potato

    How are you feeling?
Pretty good. Headaches and a little back pain, but not too bad.

    Favorite moment of the week?
We got the nursery cleaned out! It used to be my BiL's room wen he was a teenager, so I am so happy to see the Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Lee posters go ;)

Least favorite moment of the week?
DH and I went on an awesome hike with a great ocean view at the end. The trouble was, I had to pee. No problem, right? Ducked behind a bush and got ready to pee, but found a tick on my thigh!!!! Ack! Luckily, it hadn't bitten yet, but I totally screamed and just about gave poor DH a heart attack.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?
One new one: the sniss! Ack again! So far it only happened once and you better believe I am being diligent about kegels.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?
Mostly okay. Made it through a rough week last week and just trying to be calm for a couple more weeks til the a/s on the 24th.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to? That a/s. It can't come soon enough! :)

GTKY: If you've thought about it, what are your childbirth plans (epidural/pain meds, natural/med free, home birth, planned c-section, etc)?
I'm hoping to labor at home for long enough to really get things going. I'm scared of stalling out at the hospital and then ending up with pitocin/poss. c-section since that is what happened to my sister. I'm ok with an epidural, but trying to prepare in case it doesn't happen and so I can hopefully get it late-ish. We signed up for our birth class! And I'm still debating about a doula. Totally want one, it's just really expensive.

@LiaMadi1‌ like @rox825‌ said constant noshing is the way to go (I still eat that way!). I kept some crackers by my bed to eat right when I woke up (and sometimes at my midnight pee), and that helped a little. The B6 did help me too. And if water gives you trouble, putting some lemon in it made it ok for me. Good luck! And yay for the rising betas!!

@slensic Wow!! Tomorrow is the day! So excited for you!!

@haleyusf Which book did your DH pick? Mine is looking for a good one...

@rox825‌ I heard a new heartburn tip this week. Eat a handful of cashews, and then don't eat or drink anything for 20 min. Supposedly, the cashews coat the esophagus, and protect it from reflux/heartburn.

@meladoriestar welcome!  I spent the entire 1st tri waiting for bad news/the pregnancy to end.  Just try to remember that all pregnancies/babies are different!

@megbmeg I've read about the dreaded sniss on my BMB, sorry you had it happen!!  I've been trying to make a real effort to do kegels at least once daily for the past few days, before then I hadn't been great about doing them.  I'm also scared of the pitocin/c-section risk, although admittedly I know nothing about it other than anecdotal stories.  I'd also like to wait it out at home and then on the epi for as long as possible.  Thanks for the heartburn tip too, I'd heard the same thing about almonds but that hasn't been working so maybe I'll try cashews next!

    11 weeks! - Lime

If you’re far enough along, are you having a boy or girl or are you team green? (This is to update the list, so if you’re already on there no need to answer again!)

    Team Green

    How are you feeling?

Better than I've felt this whole pregnancy.  I think I'm turning the corner on 2nd tri!

    Favorite moment of the week?

I'm tempted to say the spicy mustard I ate on my pretzel yesterday, but that's a pretty lame favorite moment.  I think that having a three day weekend with enough time that we were able to spend some time just me and DH, also hang out with friends, AND get stuff done around the house.  Can't remember the last time we had a weekend like that.

Least favorite moment of the week?

The unbelievable headache I woke up to Saturday morning.  I'm just praying these don't become a regular thing because it was totally debilitating.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?

My symptoms completely changed, like overnight.  My exhaustion is basically gone.  I get tired still, but nothing like what it's been.  And my nausea now only seems to come if I let myself get really really hungry, not like before when the tiniest bit of hunger would set it off.  On the other hand, my heartburn is much worse, I got a killer headache on Saturday, and I've got broken capillaries on my left breast.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?

PGAL brain was the worst it has been since before I saw the heartbeat.  On Wednesday afternoon all of my symptoms completely vanished and by Thursday I was convinced that I was miscarrying.  In an effort to keep myself busy I was frantically cleaning the kitchen, terrifying poor DH.  Friday morning I jumped out of bed at like 6:30 and started making scones.  I was just so scared that I couldn't sit still.  Then Friday afternoon I started getting all these new symptoms that I think are indicative of second trimester, and I calmed down dramatically and was able to enjoy the rest of my weekend.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?

2 more weeks to my 12 week appointment (I'll be 12w6d...ugh).  Just looking forward to checking on LO again and making sure everything is ok.

    -Lily
    EDD: 1/27/15
So excited for our rainbow baby!
  • Thanks for the check in @rox825 !  Sorry I was a total post and run last week, we left for the holiday and I really dislike mobile-bumping.

How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you?

    20 weeks, banana, HALF-BAKED!!!!

If you’re far enough along, are you having a boy or girl or are you team green? (This is to update the list, so if you’re already on there no need to answer again!)

    Still pink :)

    How are you feeling?

    Ok, tired.  Vacation was exhausting.

    Favorite moment of the week?

We went to an air show (which isn't terribly exciting to me), but there was a particularly loud jet that little miss really did not like and she went crazy dancing!  She got some really solid thumps in.  It was nice to be able to feel her so plainly as opposed to the vague flutters that I think are baby.  Since I have an anterior placenta, I don't get to feel a whole lot of movement yet.

Least favorite moment of the week?

Letting other people handle Lucy while we were on vacation.  We went to a family cottage and there were a lot of other people staying there.  It made me very anxious to hand my puppy over to others who played differently or more rough than we do (I realize I sound crazy about this, it's a dog for pity's sake).  We also took a few steps back in potty training due to the break in our normal schedule.  Although this was very uncomfortable for me, I guess it was good practice since I'm going to have to let other people hold my human baby.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?

Still holding on.  I was hoping the surprise return visit of ms would go away, but it's sort of hanging on.  It's not awful, it's just not predictable and it's pretty darn annoying!

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?

I think I'm doing pretty good this week.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?

We have our A/S on Monday!

GTKY:  If you've thought about it, what are your childbirth plans (epidural/pain meds, natural/med free, home birth, planned c-section, etc)?

Good GTKY question!  I'm trying not to get too tied up in having a plan because I realized childbirth has it's own plan and that my clash with what I would prefer.  So I'm hoping to go for as long as possible without pain meds so that I can move around while I labor, keep labor moving to avoid interventions, and minimize the time that LO is exposed to meds.  However, I expect to eventually have an epidural and I'm fine with that.  Contractions don't scare me so much (naive maybe?) but the thought of pushing a human out of such a tiny hole with all the stretching and tearing just sounds awful.  Also, I'd really like to be mentally present and enjoy the event and not be so wrapped up in the pain.

  • @megbmeg -- we got "The Birth Partner". Haven't read it yet so I can't vouch for it, but the reviews were good and it seems pretty comprehensive. It's also a guide for doulas, so it should go more in depth than the typical "fathers" book would.

  • @MrsTuna08‌ hooray for half baked! Hope your a/s is wonderful! I'm sorry the puppy sharing was stressful - the good news is that it is great socializing for your doggie, the more new things and ppl and places she encounters, the better :) BTW, I was talking to a doula (who I wish we could hire but is just out of our price range) about being afraid of tearing. She said that of all 800 births she's attended, no mama ever knew when she tore. Recovering can be not so fun, but I found that reassuring.

Thanks @haleyusf, I'll check that out.

I think night times are my least favorite moment. I just can’t seem to get my stomach to settle down.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?

Symptoms are letting up a little but definitely still there. I am starting to feel light headed a lot when I stand up which is always fun. I am coming to the end of being able to wear most of my jeans but I still refuse to buy maternity pants until I have a good appointment. I cant find my belly band either and today I am for sure in need of it.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?

I pretty much feel like this is my last week of being pregnant even though I am still feeling very pregnant and have had no complications. Last time around it took so long for everything to sink in and then it was just taken away from me at my 12 week appointment with no warning. After being reassured over and over everything was fine it definitely was not. I can’t help but feel like the same thing is going to happen even though I know this is a different pregnancy and things have looked much better this time around. I am dreading my 12 week appointment on Friday but ready for it all at the same time. I will take any spare T&P that you ladies have for a good appointment.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?

My 12 week appointment on Friday will be my final milestone to pass.

GTKY:  If you've thought about it, what are your childbirth plans (epidural/pain meds, natural/med free, home birth, planned c-section, etc)?

I don’t really have a set birth plan per say but it will be in a hospital and I will be getting an epidural. I have no desire what so ever to feel what is going on down there.

Thanks so much! I have lots of family and friends that can do to the appointment with my but I am sort of thinking I want to go alone. Last time it was like an emotional hell and I just dont know if I can deal with someone freaking out worse than me. DH was able to go last time and he was so great but he cant make it this time :(

  • How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you?

    11 weeks- lime

    How are you feeling?

Pretty good this week. I'm feeling better since I've passed all my milestones and the baby seems to be progressing well.

    Favorite moment of the week?

Date night at home with MH. I made dinner, which hasn't been happening a lot due to fatigue and just not feeling great. He kept talking about how good it was. Win! Then we watched Captain Phillips and it made me cry.

Least favorite moment of the week?

My IL's are visiting from out of state (which is nice), but they came over along with my SIL her husband and 6 month old for dinner on Saturday.  I was feeling pretty irritable in general and SIL was just driving me crazy. I won't get into it, but I was so ready for her to leave.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?

Feeling ok. I've learned to not talk about how good I'm feeling because then the next day seems to hit me hard. I'm getting a lot more really low back pain, like at my sacrum and to the side. I'm not sure if this is pelvic girdle pain or what, but I plan on talking to my doctor about it next week at my appointment. It seems kinda early for that, but I don't know.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?

I'm ok. I'm starting to get nervous for the NT scan next Monday. Everything has gone great so far, but I'm just a little worried that something is wrong.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?

NT scan next Monday and next OB appointment next Thursday.

GTKY:  If you've thought about it, what are your childbirth plans (epidural/pain meds, natural/med free, home birth, planned c-section, etc)?
I think I would want to go as long as I can without an epidural so I can walk around still, but I'll probably end up getting one eventually. I was talking to MH about this yesterday and he said I can have the epidural placed, but not be hooked up to pain meds until I'm ready. That way, it's ready to go when I feel like I need it. That idea never occurred to me!

    How are you feeling?
I have been having so much trouble sleeping lately. Can't. Get. Comfortable. This is a bad sign, since I know it will only get worse when I've got a bump! So, today I am exhausted.

    Favorite moment of the week?
A gorgeous Rottweiler showed up in our yard yesterday and acted like she wasn't planning on leaving. Sounds scary, but she was a total sweetheart. DH and I met our new neighbors and eventually found Bella's owner. :)

Least favorite moment of the week? Had a cramping scare on the 4th. But, everything seems fine now and there was no blood. I think I was just exhausted and my whole body was hurting.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones? Nausea seems to be slightly better. Headaches are still almost daily and now they hit later at night, like when I'm trying to sleep. Which brings me to my new symptom - insomnia! yay...

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests? It's pretty constant. I'm always freaking out about something. T&Ps for ultrasound and appointment with new doctor tomorrow!

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to? Ultrasound and appointment tomorrow. Really hoping everything is okay!

GTKY: If you've thought about it, what are your childbirth plans (epidural/pain meds, natural/med free, home birth, planned c-section, etc)?
This will be my first time, so I don't really know what to expect because I have nothing to compare it to. But, other mommies have advised the epidural. I will probably go that route... :)

Edited because I said I was a plum, when really I am just a lime... haha
  • Good luck at your u/s tomorrow @Keberly91‌

And fx for you to have a great NT scan @luciddreamer106‌ I hope baby puts on a great show for you :)

    How are you feeling?

Great, a little bit of reflux but ok.

    Favorite moment of the week?

Today! I found out that my placenta has completely moved out of the way!!!!!! Yeah. So now we can have a vaginal delivery! I still have to be monitored because of the GD and being on insulin she won't let me go past my due date but yeah for no planned c-section! (and no bed rest or constant worry about bleeding)

Least favorite moment of the week?

My GD continues to be out of whack. Most of my numbers are fine but my fasting number has not changed since I was dx, even though they have put me on insulin and upped the dose 2 times.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?

I am worried about the GD and the size of lo. They measured him/her about a week ahead in terms of weight but really that could mean nothing.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?

Another NST next Tuesday, Dr. appt too.

GTKY:  If you've thought about it, what are your childbirth plans (epidural/pain meds, natural/med free, home birth, planned c-section, etc)? Up until I found out I have a complete placenta previa I wanted a med free birth, now that the placenta is out of the way I am excited to get back on the train. I have a lot of reading to do before the childbirth.

  • @haleyusf-I remember being so poor after we moved. Then our lawyer called and asked if we were going to cash the check they sent us. It was for a few thousand dollars and we had overlooked it. It was amazing.

@rox825- That was my birth plan with DS and it was great. I held out until 5cm and then got the epi. You really won't care about the needle at that point.

@slensic- Congrats! I can't imagine knowing the exact day.

@liamadi1- We have had some issues with our pharmacy lately too that are just frustrating.

@meladoriestar- T&P's to you. Those early days are very tough. Try to do something nice for yourself while you wait for Thursday.

@megbmeg-I hear you on the Kegels. I think I need an alarm to remind me.

@Birch113-At the hospital I delivered at it is not standard to put in a catheter until it is needed. I had an epi and about an hour later I said I have to pee. They mentioned a catheter but I said can't I try a bedpan. I did it. My epi wan't 100% though.

@larahouseman-I'm sorry and happy that your symptoms are lessening. ((hugs))

@MrsTuna08-It's amazing to feel baby reacting to things around you.

@Samanthalaura16- T&P's that you make it through this last milestone.

@luciddreamer106-Good luck at the NT scan.

    @keberly91- Good luck tomorrow!

    @jcar2- Yeah for good betas.

larahouseman glad you're feeling a little better, hope your 2nd tri symptoms give you peace of mind.

MrsTuna08 congrats on being half baked!!

SamanthaLaura16 I was nervous toward the 12 week mark too, my MMC was found at 12 weeks, so I understand the anxiety. I hope that Friday goes well!

luciddreamer106 good luck at your NT scan on Monday!

Keberly91 hope your appointment tomorrow goes well, be sure to update.

jcar2 congrats on good betas, hope your first US looks great.

  • @megbmeg I'm not sure if being in so much other pain during delivery that I don't realize precious bits are tearing makes me feel better, hahahahah ;)  My bestie had 3 kids - 2 without epi, 1 with an epi.  She tore for the first two (without epis) but was able to just hang out for a bit and let stuff stretch with the epi for the last, so she didn't re-tear with that one.  Obviously she's just one experience, so I'm not sure if that's common.  FWIW, my mom had kids with/without epi and she preferred without because she could feel what was going on and felt in control of what she was doing (BUT - all of her labors were short, as in 2-3 hours.  She might have changed her tune if her labor time was a bit more normal).

@SamanthaLaura16 Big ((HUGS)) to you.  I'm sorry you are having to go through this scary time.  I'll be keeping you in my T&Ps on Friday.

@luciddreamer106 I had a lot of sacrum pain around that time, especially after I would go for walks.  My whole pelvic region just felt out of sorts - I think it was due to the relaxin that my body was producing and I could just feel stuff shifting and loosening.  I really didn't care for it!  FX that it starts feeling better soon!

    @Keberly91 T&Ps for a good appointment!

@jcar2 yay for pretty betas!  Sorry you are feeling crappy though.

@bonnesetter27 YAY placenta!!! I'm so glad for you!  Sorry that your fasting numbers are still being punky though.

@megpt22 I'm glad you finally got that burst of energy - better late than never!  It gives me hope that I may be able to get my house cleaned well any time in the next year :)  And wow, what a great u/s photo, squeeeee!

  • @rox825 You mentioned your mon's preference for no epi since she could feel what she was doing better. I think that makes sense and I've read that from other moms. But the good news is they've gotten better at anesthetics since our baby days & can give lighter ones. If you're interested you might ask your OB about a CSE (combined spinal epidural) or "walking epidural." You can't actually walk around with it, but it can be made less heavy than a reg one :)

How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you?

    11 weeks, not a prune :-)

If you’re far enough along, are you having a boy or girl or are you team green? (This is to update the list, so if you’re already on there no need to answer again!)

don't know, will find out with Verifi soon! twins...

    How are you feeling?

    some queasiness, mostly good

    Favorite moment of the week?

seeing our two little beans kicking around ;-)

Least favorite moment of the week?

taking so long at the OB for a "quick check" , but I did say "cramping"...

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?

mostly the same- not bad, occasional yuck.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?

I went in for a check and got an ultrasound- better now :-)

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?

hurry up week 13, get me to the 2nd tri!

and getting the Verifi done so we can be sure about our littlest ones....

getting to Chicago this weekend to see family!

  • Sorry I'm late!

How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you?

10 weeks! I have a little kumquat or date. I don't eat either, but he/she is over an inch!

If you’re far enough along, are you having a boy or girl or are you team green? (This is to update the list, so if you’re already on there no need to answer again!)

Still waiting, but anxious to know!

    How are you feeling?

Okay. Had a nervous weekend of no symptoms, but fantastic appointment yesterday.

    Favorite moment of the week?

Yesterday, not only did I see the heartbeat, I saw the little bugger moving! After 4 pregnancies (and losses), I've never seen that. I cried. Then laughed. The ultrasound tech was very nice, but laughing during a vag u/s was not helpful.

Least favorite moment of the week?

Last weekend, I slept so much I had no symptoms. PGAL brain was torture until my Wednesday appointment.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?

Same. If I don't eat every 3-4 hours, I'm nauseated. Mornings are awful. I'm starving and food sounds gross. Lots of un-lady-like, um, sounds, but that's the progesterone, I think.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?

Pretty frustrating, but nothing we don't all go through every day.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?

2 weeks until the 2nd trimester!
