1st L and D visit....@26 weeks and 6 days (UPDATE)

Yup, I wound up in Labor and Delivery this morning after 4 a.m. I"m home now and am so grateful for the care and attention I received at the hospital.

I had been struggling with this UTI and was about to finish my meds today and had no relief in sight. I could barely walk and had such a level of pain that was indescribable. Come to find out, my dr. is in vacation and covering physcian said to go right to L and D and they'd be waiting for me.

I had a double infection.....urinary tract AND yeast infection. They said I had a high pain tolerance and they thought I would have been in there sooner. Made me feel like less of an idiot as women were in active labor in the triage unit and were getting registered before being admitted. My blood pressure was good and my sugar was too. Thank God for small favors because i was in such pain just having them evaluate me. I'm glad to have new meds and a treatment plan. Hoping for some relief within 24 hours.

They said the swelling of the tissue in addition to rounding ligament pain and the ongoing need to urinate all made for a perfect storm of issues and impacted my ability to walk. Having an ice pack that they gave me for the ride home made the New England highway bumps/potholes a bit more tolerable.

I felt stupid calling the dr prior to 4 a.m. but I was home by 8 a.m. and had medication already working for me. It was the best call I have made ever!

UPDATE: Saw dr. today and need to take more meds to clear up the Y-infection. The topical cream was not doing it's job so I was prescribed a different kind. I also got schooled on how to check my blood 4x a day. Full appointment for sure! Hoping to be feeling much better come next Tuesday's appointment when I will be 28 weeks along!
