Christening gowns/gifts

Any recommendations on a good place to buy christening gowns and/or gifts? 

Also, just curious....I've always heard that the godmother buys the christening outfit. Is that true or just depends on the family?  I am my nephew's godmother and I bought his outfit and my sister-in-law has asked me and my husband to be the godparents of her child.  Just wondering if buying the outfit was normal.

    My dd was given a really cute gown with her initials monogrammed in at our baby shower so I used that because it fit really well. My sister, dd's godmother, bought her her first rosary.

     So I guess it depends on the family.

    My sister is godmother and she physically dressed baby but I picked the clothes myself.  I didn't do a gown, I did a really cute white top and pants with the booties and bells.  There's a place on Vets by TJMaxx that has really cute stuff if you want to go the traditional route.  I also got the butt of a white onesie monogrammed and had a silver cross embroidered, so at the after party he was comfy and stll super cute.
