Cribs

Right now, we don't have a crib.  DS sleeps in the P&P.

We are going to be moving in January/February.  I would love to be able to hold off on getting a crib until after we move, but I am starting to think that's unreasonable.  What do you think?  Should I wait it out as long as possible or bite the bullet and get a crib now?

Re: Cribs

  • Wait, so you do t have to take it apart! Taking anything apart means possibly lossing parts! The PNP is fine! He'll you might be able to avoid the cost of a crib all together if you wait long enough!

  • I transitioned from bassinet to crib last week. The Graco P&P (which she naps in occasionally) and the bassinet have a somewhat thin mattress. IMO I feel like DD sleeps a little better in her crib because of the mattress and being in her own room.

  • I would get the crib. The longer you wait to make that transition the more difficult it's going to be. Our cribs were not hard to set up at all, they took 25 minutes each.

  • We don't have a crib yet either, we've just been using the PNP with a replacement mattress (3" foam).  We're moving at the end of August, and plan to get a crib when we get to our new house....but depending on what we pick and how long it takes to get there, we might not have it till he's 8 months old.

Your LO can continue to fit in a PNP for awhile, if that's your concern. DS slept in one at the sitter until almost three. But I agree with PP that the longer you wait the tougher the transition will be.

  • IMO, waiting that long will make the transition harder. Also unless you get one of the thicker PNP mattresses, they seem kind of thin/uncomfortable to sleep on every night for that long. We already have our LO sleeping in her crib though and went straight from the PNP napper to the crib. We will use the PNP for overnight trips.
