3rd Trimester

Anyone else feel pressure on lungs?

My doctor's office is closed now or else I would call them. I don't think this is an emergency, so I'm hoping you ladies here can help me.

Every now and then I feel a pressure on my lungs and it makes me feel like I'm having problems breathing. (I feel it right now). I get this feeling when I'm sitting straight up and sometimes when I'm laying in bed at night. Is this normal? ?

Re: Anyone else feel pressure on lungs?

  • it's the baby pushing everything up into your lungs.  it's normal to feel short of breath.

  • It is normal.  The past few weeks I can barely breathe and it's very uncomfortable.  I literally feel like I'm goign to pass out EVERY day.  It's sooo annoying and too early to be this bad!

  • yeah it's pretty normal. I sit up and open the window for a bit, that usually helps a little.?
  • Raise your arms above your head to get some good breaths!  Also, your Dr. office should have an emergency number or an on call doctor.. That's insane if they don't.
  • Thank you all for putting my mind at ease! This feeling really does suck!

?And yes, they do have an emergency phone number but I didn't think this was something urgent to call my doctor's office about. I knew you wonderful ladies here would know if this was normal or not.?Thanks again!

This is what I was thinking.....sucks!!

  • I'm late responding but I'm a 0-6 monther that was bored and saw this.  It might just be the baby, but it wouldn't hurt you to go into L&D and get checked.  That happened to me at 37 weeks and I got checked at L&D and they sent me home.  Three days later was admitted to begin induction and to make a long story short, the having problems breathing was because there was too much fluid around my lungs and heart.

I do not say this at all to scare you, because chances are, it IS just the baby.  But it never hurts to check.  If I had persisted that day in L&D when they sent me home, it would have saved me from getting admitted to ICU after baby was born.  I just don't want you to go through that.  If you're bored, you can read my birth story which goes further into it:

Again, not trying to freak you out, and I'm sorry if I did.  Good luck!
