TTM about wearing older babies

LO is still obsessed with being worn in the sling.  Not just in public/on errands.  All the time.  I walk around the house at least half the day wearing him.  He fusses and cries when he's not in it.

None of my previous babies liked being worn, especially not after about 3 months old.  Do I have a particularly clingy baby this time?  Are you still wearing your LO around the house?

  • Lo is always in her carrier. She loves it and I like having my hands back. I made sure to have a carrier that gives tones of support and tons of padding for me. Around the house, the property, and in town, she is in it.

I don't mind if she is 'clingy' I guess. I see it was she wants to be involved in my day to day operations.

I'm definitely not saying clingy in a bad way, though my shoulders might disagree there :)  I think he just really likes the feeling of being tucked into the sling.  Don't know what I'll do when he outgrows it!

  • Depending on your sling, you have a long time before you need to worry. Ring slings have a reasonably big weight limit. I would have a problem with all the weight only on 1 shoulder, instead of spread across my body.

I still wear LO a lot. Mostly on walks and when she's cranky before she goes to bed. She's 5 months.
  • I've used three different carriers today, and I wore DS (3.5 at that point) just a few months ago.

I wouldn't consider your baby "old" to be worn at all.

What kind of ring sling do you have?

@RondackHiker I have a Hotsling.  It's great.  LO doesn't like the backpack or anything that doesn't involve him being curled up like he's in the womb.

I'm glad to know that there are so many babies still loving being worn at this age and beyond!

Considering LO HATES the stroller, I wear him every time we leave the house. Works for us though, since my 6 year old will still sit in the double stroller.

I'd look into a ring sling or something similar that might be more comfy as LO grows.
