I just moved into a townhome in a new neighborhood and I'd appreciate any recommendations on an affordable, reliable alarm system. It doesn't have to be anything fancy that I can see from my smart phone. Thank you!
We got the Xfinity system because we got a good deal since we also have cable and internet through them. Installation was free and the monthly rate is reduced. The system works really well and like pp I like the chimes that sound when a door opens and the "stay" mode that can be set. We don't have a dog so I can't comment on that but the motion detectors did get set off once when a picture fell off a wall randomly (DH hanging fail). I also like that I can turn it on and off remotely.
We have a basic ADT package. Door and window sensors and one glass breaking detector near our picture window. Fire and CO detectors. Monitoring is 29.99/mo. I interrupted a burgarly in progress at my house a few years ago so I wanted something that let me know if someone forced themselves into the house. This does that with the added bonus if letting me know if my house catches on fire when I am not there.
I work for a small burglar/fire alarm monitoring company and although I have never dealt with ADT directly, I have heard nothing but bad things about them. I cannot speak from my own experience with them, but my customers have definitely gone out of their way to explain their hate towards the ADT service (both the employees and burg system itself).
I dont know where you are located, so I would suggest looking on a review site (I use yelp) or see if a friend in the area can suggest a company. Sometimes the "little guys" like us can give you a personalized option for your current residence.
