Are you feeding pumped milk? BF babies will likely never eat 7 oz at a time…babies can and will overeat at the bottle. The breast changes flow as baby's suck changes when baby is full - not true of the bottle thus they overeat.
I feed both ways as well and my 3 month old has rarely ever taken more than four ounces at a time. If she's especially hungry she'll take an extra ounce but that usually only happens first thing in the morning or right before bed. It takes her about thirty minutes to finish her four ounces from the bottle.
Thanks! I will slow does the pace.. burp more, etc. I called the doctor's office this morning and they said that she could have been having a growth spurt or she might have just been very hungry. She is known to take down 5 oz regularly. She is almost 15 pounds now and only 11 weeks. She is a healthy baby! lol The doc just said that 7 oz was okay as long as she wasn't doing it all the time.
She is fed breast milk through breast feeding and the bottle. We have never done formula.
Is she sitting up at an incline when you feed her, with the bottle horizontal to the floor (only tipped enough so milk fills the nipple)? That's the current guidance on bottle feeding position.
The old method (horizontal baby with vertical bottle) frequently causes overeating, as gravity places milk into baby's mouth, and they swallow as a reflex.
