Trying to Get Pregnant

FR OPK+ but the rest negative

I have PCOS and after a long wait I finally got a positive ovulation test with the First Response digital test: it clearly said "yes +". However, with the same batch of urine I tested with the clearblue digital test and a dollar store test and those were both negative. What could be going on? I know you're not supposed to use first morning urine, but with the FR test is says to test first urine so that's what I had been doing since day 5 of my cycle (today is day 21). I just tested again with clearblue and dollar store and both are negative still. I couldn't try to test with the FR test again because once you get a positive the device permanately shuts down. Could I still be about to ovulate? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Re: FR OPK+ but the rest negative

  • I don't really have any advice, but I will say I have been using clear blue digital opk's for the past 3 months and have only got a positive the first month.

  • This happened to me just a few days ago. I do not ever use first morning urine because LH shows up in your first morning urine either way. I do mine around 3pm, and another before bed.

A few days ago, I tested using my digital and a wondfo at 3 pm, and only the wondfo was positive, not the digital. By bedtime, the digital and the wondfo were both very positive. Make sure you don't pee for at least 3 hours before, and try not to dilute your urine with too much water or other fluids.

This was also my first positive OPK, and I try to do the temping but it just doesn't work for me. My chart is all over the place, which made me think I wasn't ovulating but my RE did all my bloodwork and said I am.

I don't know but maybe they have different sensitivities. Sure you could still O, OPK's don't guarantee it though. If you are temping, you'd know exactly what your O day is. Maybe going forward, pick one type of OPK and stick with it. Wondfo's are cheap and have worked for a lot of women here.
Yes, this.  It is perfectly normal to have differing results and we often see posts confused by the results of different OPK brands.  Some work better/different for some women and don't let it worry you.

Since you got a clear positive, you should for sure begin to have sex every day or every other day, whichever you prefer. I would continue to test OPKs and keep temping (if you are temping) to confirm O. Best of luck!

  • Thanks so much for the replies. My H and I tried to dtd this morning after the one positive, but he wasn't able to 'perform'...after 6 months of waiting to finally ovulate....I couldn't help but cry...definitely tears of frustration...I just never know when I'll get another chance.
