Trouble TTC

How Often Should We BD?

Hey Guys,
My husband and I have been TTC for 9 months. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 17, so we knew we would have a road ahead of us.
We tried 6 months with Provera periods and no treatment to see if I ovulated on my own. I didn't.
Last cycle was Femara 2.5mg. Negative OPK days 10-20 and very low progesterone on day 21.
This cycle was Femara 5mg and a follicle check on day 14 (today). On days 10-13, I had negative OPK. My follicle check today showed a 22mm follicle on the right side and a "mid cycle uterus" (whatever that means) according to the doc. He was very optimistic. Today was a positive OPK! I am cautiously excited.
My question is this, should DH and I BD every day for the next few days or every other day? I have heard both.
Thanks!

Re: How Often Should We BD?

  • Hi there, sorry you are having trouble TTC.

Glad to hear about your OPK+ in line with your great follie and lining!

Has your DH had a sperm analysis? If not, I would recommend it (as well as an HSG to prove your tubes are open), otherwise you could easily be medicating yourself for nothing. Based on the SA results, your doctor (RE?) or nurse could advise on BD timing.

If you have had an SA, then I'm guessing YH's numbers were high enough not to warrant IUI, in which case I think every day is good once you get the OPK+. But I would check with your nurse.

  • I was told every other day. I agree with BunnyBerry, get a SA and an HSG if you haven't done so already.

Yep-- I also agree with @BunnyBerry about the SA! If his sperm analysis shows everything is awesome, you may want to do everyday (if you want) but if he's low in certain areas you may want to stick to every other so there's time to refresh stock. Good luck!
