FTM in the city--strollers??

I live in NYC so obviously walk everywhere. The husband and I need to get a stroller that's subway friendly and that won't be overly difficult to bring up and down stairs. Any suggestions?? Also--as a couple without a car, do we get one that has a latch in car seat or no??

  • You may want more bells and whistles, but I went with the B-Agile because of how easy it folds and how light it is. I like that I can close it and lift it with one hand while balancing a kid on my other hip.

  • I used to nanny and live in Chicago. A lot of moms had the uppa baby vista. Also a lot of bugaboos and orbitbabies.

My husband and I live in the suburbs but still plan on buying an uppa.

It's super easy to push, sleek, fairly small, and easy to maneuver around the city.

Most of my friends in NYC have a Bugaboo (Cameleon & Bee), second most popular would be either of the uppababy models.

ETA: Forgot about the Stokke models!! Those are becoming a bit more popular in my city circle!  I love them!

When I was in NYC, all I saw all around was Uppababy Vista. I loved it but its a bit too big for me personally and am planning on getting the B Agile.

  • The stokke scoot is perfect for city living. It's easy to fold and light weight. Also it doesn't take up a ton of space. Highly recommend.

I also live in NYC and everyone I know loves the City Mini GT.  Great wheels for uneven sidewalks, lightweight, and folds up quickly at the top/bottom of stairs or getting on/off buses as needed.  If you go to Park Slope and just sit and watch strollers, I'd say City Mini and BOB are 90% of the strollers now.
  • I've heard a lot about Britax too--any feedback on that one?
  • We live in Kyiv without a car and started with a Bob for DD thinking it would be good for snowy days, but didn't like it because of the weight and difficulty folding.  We then bought a baby jogger city select and love it.  We're visiting family in Vancouver right now and it seems to be a popular choice here too, along with the UppaBaby.  One other thing to consider is when you're planning to have number two.  If it's soon, it may be worth investing in a model that can be converted to a double.  With our LOs 21 months apart, I wish we would have considered this when DD was born.

  • I am so dreading subway stairs with a stroller!
  • We live in Boston and have an Uppababy. The Bugaboo and the Stokke are popular here as well, but I see Uppababy's everywhere.

  • My best friend lives in NYC and loves her Baby Jogger City Mini for easy maneuverability, light weight and as an easy (and small) stowaway in her small apartment.

I've heard great things about the Baby Jogger city mini series. I'm eyeballing the city mini gt double stroller and am hoping to save and purchase it for our two babes.
