STMs: is your toddler smushing your LO?

My 17 month old DD likes to be rocked to sleep. No complaints there, DH and I love the quality time with her. However it is becoming increasingly difficult to rock DD#1 to sleep without feeling like she is smushing DD#2. Anyone else dealing with this or something similar? If so, any suggestions?

DD2 is a big time snuggler. She lays on me all the time and smashes LO. It doesn't feel great, but I just can't seem to stop snuggling her. I'm starting to have major guilt about bringing another baby into the picture. This happens to me every time. I know my snuggle time is limited, so I'll keep doing it as long as possible.

Yes, my 2.5 year old tries to lean on my tummy all of the time. I have to move her or else LO2 will fight back. Ahh, sibling rivalry already!

My three year old is a big cuddler, in fact she is sleeping on me right now because I rocked her to sleep and haven't put her down yet. The thing that helps is to keep her on my lap instead of on my belly, she leans on my belly but get weight is on my legs. Sometimes I have to re adjust and kind of move my belly to get comfortable. Also like a pp mentioned, anticipating her moves and catching her knee or elbow before she puts pressure on my stomach helps.

My 30 lb 17 month old climbs all over my belly constantly! Yesterday he was snuggling on me and the baby kicked him. He looked up at me like I did it! I hope this isn't a sign of early sibling rivalry!

DD#1 is a "plopper" too! I'm better at anticipating that than some of the other things. Maybe I'll see if I can slowly start adjusting the way she snuggles so she has more weight on my legs, like some have mentioned. Right now she likes to snuggle with her head on my shoulder/neck which leaves her butt (an majority of her weight) right on my belly.

Oh, yes. DS is a snuggle bug and loves to lay on my tummy. I try to shift his weight to the side slightly so that he's supported more by my hip than my tummy, and when I carry him, I put him high above the bump in front or far back on my hip when I'm carrying him on my side.

Yes! This LO gave him a few good kicks the last time he was snuggled on my belly. He very recently stopped wanting to rock/snuggle before bed, so I'm sad about that but it's easier for me now.

The really tough thing for us is that DS1 loves to wrestle. He likes to jump on us whenever we're lying on the floor and roll and kick around. We've explained to him that he has to be very gentle with mommy until his baby brother is here and it seems like he mostly gets it, but I still get kicked every once in a while so at this point I just try not to lie on the floor (which is getting harder to get up from anyway!)

DS2 is almost 4 and is a total snuggler. He's been using my belly as a pillow or arm rest and finds it hilarious when baby kicks him.

Yes! I am pretty sure baby is protected in there but I do worry when I get a toddler elbow or knee to the stomach. I'm running out of lap space for my sweet little DD too.

Gotta love siblings ;-) My nephew, who is 18 mos, sits on his baby sister. My SIL is 8 months pregnant and he'll sit on her belly and bounce on her. Lol doesn't feel good to SIL at all! I don't think he has any idea what's about to come!

Yes! Both of my girls love to cuddle and I can't resist them. I'm trying to teach them to be gentle (instead of catapulting at me lol) but sometimes they forget.

ETA: I don't think it will hurt the baby if they are a little rough. It's just uncomfortable for us.

I am my daughter's jungle gym.

She's only about 20 lbs so it's not as bad as it could be, but she loves climbing all over me, especially while nursing, and her little knees dig into my bump in the worst way. It's taken some very creative distraction to get her to move or play differently.
