Does anyone not swaddle?

Babies are almost 4 weeks. We started out swaddling in the hospital and then for the first week or so. Then one of them was clearly unhappy being swaddled. We realized he loved to sleep with his hands up by his face or over his head. He was much happier without it.

The other one was fine with the swaddle, but when the weather got hot (we don't have AC) we stopped. Both babies sleep 3-4 hours at a time without being swaddled.

I see almost everyone's bedtime routine includes swaddling. So I wonder if I should be doing it, despite the fact that they both seem to be fine without it. Is there something I'm missing, or will this have repercussions as they get a little older?

    I don't have twin experience yet but both of my singletons were not swaddled after the first week. Both of them didn't care too much for it and both slept great without it so I never pushed it. DD was just like yours; she loved to touch her face and have her hands close to her or above her head while she slept. I often wonder what I'm missing too because my kids never took to it! I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the twins yet.

    We swaddled for a while, but found that the girls fought swaddling and didn't sleep any better or worse without it, so we stopped when they were a few months old.  I don't think there are any repercussions.  I have pretty crappy sleepers, but don't think it's swaddle related ;-)  They just love my boobs and want them all.night.long :-)

    Nope, we swaddled when we got home from the hospital, but after two weeks we stopped because of the heat as well. They do perfectly fine without them :)

    Mine hated it. You're fine to not swaddle them!

    Mine loved the swaddle and sleep so much better with them. Now my daughter is rolling so we can't swaddle her anymore and going cold turkey without the swaddles has been a nightmare. I wish I could go back and stop swaddling just to avoid this.
