Questions about relactation.

I started the process of relactation a few days ago. I pump every 2-3 hours, and drink milkmaid tea-about 2-3 cups a day. I am starting to get drops of what looks like colostrum, but I doubt that's what it is.  Is that a good sign?  It's not much..maybe a teaspoon from each side a day. Started yesterday, still getting it today. Any recommendations on how to get my supply back in other ways as well? Hopefully the presence of SOMETHING is a good sign. Some encouraging stories or info would be awesome! :)

  • He will latch sometimes, but VERY briefly, and only with a shield.

  • How long were you not nursing/pumping? Had it been a long time? I'm curious because I decided to wean then changed my mind and I was able to get my supply back up to where it was by power pumping once a day in addition to my regular pumping, and taking motherlove more milk plus.

  • He has never been able to latch right. my nipples would bleed. even after working with an LC. his latch never got better, so i pumped. I'm pumping now, but I wish he would nurse of course. It was about 3 months between the last time i pumped and trying to relactate.

  • Wow, that's a long time. I wish you the very best of luck! I'm sorry you had such a rough time, I had the same experience and I ended up pumping even though I would rather have nursed. I've also struggled with low supply but I felt any amount of bm I could give my baby would be beneficial so I'm still at it.
