2nd Trimester

14 Weeks - Progesterone

I feel like this is a weird question and may be TMI, but...

For anyone on progesterone (particularly suppositories), do you find they make you have to pee more when you first put them in? Obviously frequent urination just comes with the pregnancy territory, but I do a progesterone suppository every night before bed. The first couple hours I'm trying to sleep, I'm up to pee at least every half hour. It tapers off as I get further through the night, but it's taking me forever to fall asleep initially because every time I get close, I feel like I have to pee again! Last night I went four times in an hour and a half. And it's not just a little bit; it's like my bladder has completely refilled without having so much as a sip of anything. I'm going 4-6 times during the first few hours of sleep, and then it tapers off to maybe one or two more times throughout the night.

I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this with progesterone. It's just so strange that it happens the first few hours after I use the suppository, but not really any other time of day.

I also get worried the progesterone doesn't have enough time to absorb/get where it's going because as soon as I put it in, I'm going to the restroom!

  • I would think that you would be stopping the supplements soon so it shouldn't be an issue anymore. After 12-13 weeks isn't it kind of pointless to keep up with them?

And you can't pee it out.

Two separate holes. Urinating will have zero effect on the vaginal suppository.

    lol, this!

I never had any issues with this. However, if you are going to the bathroom more now I would say it's just pregnancy related not anything to do with the Progesterone.

Yes, generally they don't have you go past 14 weeks with it.

Most of mine leaks out the first time I pee and I can see it floating in the water.

  • OP-I see an increase in urination at night during pregnancy but don't think it is related. I am 16 weeks and have 6 more days left of my supps. Can't wait to finish!
