Trouble TTC

How did the 4th of July weekend screw with you?

With a long weekend holiday weekend, doctors office closures and mother nature in the mix, I'm sure someone can share my pain.

I personally would like to thank my ovaries for not holding off one more day and forcing my husband and I to drive home from our family vacation a day early this weekend for my IUI appointment. It was also a fun making excuses to everyone as to why we needed to leave early (since none of them know). Thanks.

Anyone else?

Tried for two years, finally a BFP!

Re: How did the 4th of July weekend screw with you?

  • Ugh I feel your pain. I got a positive OPK on Thursday, RE was closed on the 4th so I skipped the IUI, so frustrated. Another month down the drain.

Tried for two years, finally a BFP!
  • My follies weren't quite ready on Wednesday so I had to go in for a repeat u/s on the 4th. Luckily the on-call doctor was able to see us...unfortunately it did cost us and extra $125.

  • Wow, I am so annoyed with these RE offices! How can they mess up a month of meds by closing for a holiday? I'm sure it wouldn't kill them to pay a nurse and tech to come in for a couple hours on holiday mornings.

    *little cousins mentioned*

I had a bittersweet time with the extended family we don't often see. It's so beautiful to see my cousins' beautiful LOs, and DH loved playing with them. But it was kind of a shock to realize, there's no guarantee I'll have my own next year, or any time soon...the not knowing is so hard. :(

  • DH and I live really far from our family so luckily we don't have to deal with rough holidays surrounded by children.  However, his parents really can't seem to understand how frustrating it is for us when they send us picture text after picture text of his brother's one year old and wife who is already pregnant again.

@rainbowbridge14 - My little sister had two oops children that she has totally neglected and is now living with the guy I almost married 10 years ago.  I swear to God, if she gets pregnant accidentally with that guy I will go full nuclear.  Totally understand your frustration, and so sorry you felt that way over the holiday.  Massive hugs for you.

  • @Hallowvic: Incredibly frustrating. Sorry to hear you had to cancel. I was worried about having to do that before my stupid ovaries let out an egg on cd 10-11.

    **pregnancy mentioned, clearly not mine**

Another acquaintance pregnant with her second. All of my female acquaintances/friends who want kids have one and either recently had a second or have a second on the way. Getting tired of hearing about those. It makes me feel broken and upset. (I know the former isn't strictly true. It's just part of the upset.)

DH and I are planning our annual vacation to Colorado in a week and a half. I'm hoping we don't have to leave Colorado early to drive 16 hours to my RE's office for IUI. It's looking like I might be lucky since AF is being stubborn. (TMI warning) 3-4 days of brown discharge with the occasional bit of red and no AF?!? Come on, get it over with, would ya? I want to get this show on the road for IUI#2.1

  • I am sorry you ladies had to worry about scheduling issues with the holiday weekend. @Hallowvic that really sucks having to cancel your IUI.

***Child and Pregnancy mentioned-- neither mine*****

For me it wasn't scheduling but visiting family. I have a cousin who is pregnant with her 5th oops baby. She had never planned a pregnancy, her partner is in jail, her oldest has been raised by my aunt and uncle, and she is living with her youngest with her parents. I had to see her and her beautiful baby and her huge pregnant belly and it just hurt. I watched my DH play with the baby and it just hurt so much to think that he may not get that and this baby's father is not even around for him.

Sorry for the huge pity party.

Not at all! I have the same issue. And I find it hard that some people are all fertile and get pregnant even when they do not want their kids. (Not adult that is

As a matter of fact I found it my 17 year old niece is pregnant with her third. I'm ask frustrated with her there is no father in the picture and she cannot support herself and the two she has... plus both her girls are still in diapers..

I feel like so many people get to have kids why not us? Geeze...

    Edited because aurocorrect stinks

  • Argh! I was SO mad at my ovaries this week!

I was supposed to be at the cabin from Sunday-Sunday this past week. Ended up having to come home Tuesday for an appt on Wednesday morning. Which was fine, we were just going to head back up Wednesday night. My ovaries disagreed and had to go back in for an u/s on Friday morning. So we were going to head back to the cabin right away early morning after my u/s and decided to extend to Monday since we were cheated out of a few days. But the nurse told us to stick around for the doctor to call us, because there was no growth. We stayed until 12 when the dr finally decided to call and tell us we were fine to go out of town but had to come back for an appointment Monday morning.

    Argh!

And then all of that - and they ended up cancelling my cycle this month.

It was rough. My office was closed so I had to get a referral for ultrasound, trigger, wash and IUI. Got in for ultrasound and then found out they dont take my insurance since I'm not a patient. $160 out of pocket, then they dont carry any trigger shots and apparently my doctor was to pass it on. Of course this is on the 4th so I couldn't find a pharmacy that had one. Luckily I ovulate on my own and on schedule this round. Had my 5th IUI on Sunday. Here's to hoping it works!
