PNP or co sleeper Cloth diapers/wipes/wet bag/soap Pump+bags+freezer packs Clothes for the current weather (my aunt lives in Boulder says weather changes frequently however) Stroller and or carrier The diaper backpack Nursing pillow
We are staying in a hotel for two days and staying with friends for two days. I'm also trying to decide how many diapers to bring. I'm tempted to just go buy a new box and take that!
We visited my inlaws for 3 days. We took 3 onesies for each day plus pjs for each night, at least 3 spit rags a day, all the bibs, lots of aiden & anis, rattles, pacis, pump/bottles/chill bag, PNP, a large wet bag for dirty clothes/blankets, a boppy, and his changing pad (it was much better to use for changes on the road). I packed all his blankets, clothes, bibs in a plastic tub. If I were you, I might also take a little bathing kit with baby soap and washrags, and medicine kit with hand sanitizer, saline solution, and tylenol just in case. Take a few sandwich baggies and gallon size zip lock baggies too to keep pacis clean and for just whatever.
ETA a carrier if you baby wear, and any kind of extra place to sit baby if you have room (bouncer/swing)
We stayed in a hotel with LO for four nights in June. A few things we really used a lot were receiving blankets (no way my baby is touching any hotel furniture), things to clean bottles, sound machine, extra pacies, a pack of wipes, we took a half a box of diapers and LOTS of extra clothes.
We just got back from vacation and this was my traveling philosophy: bring as little as possible. I brought what was necessary... Pnp, plenty of diapers/cream/wipes, clothing, cloth carrier, and a few small toys. Meds/pacifier/baby soap. But anything else, I left behind, planning to improvise. Oh, and my pump, of course!
We just got back from a 12 hour road trip and we brought waaaay too much! Lots of clothes, diapers, burp clothes and A&A blankets were key for us. Also, we lost some pacifiers along the way so we needed to buy more.
We left right after the early (4am) feeding and got him into the car seat still asleep, so he slept about 4 hours the first leg of the trip! It worked out well!
Depends on where in the state you are visiting. It's warm here in denver but places 3 hours away in mountain towns are cooler and maybe getting rain in the afternoons. We are also expecting a cool down this week. Don't forget to pack things for you for a cooler evening or afternoon thunder storm
PNP w/extra sheet
Sleep sack
Soothies
Box/Sleeve of diapers & wipes
Garbage bags for diapersChanging mat/pad w/extra cover
Sleepers (1-2 per day)
Outfits (2-3 per day)
Sun hat
ALL of my burp cloths
2 swaddle blankets
Baby carriers
Monitor
Bouncy seat/play mat (SO glad we had these--we actually ordered cheap ones and had them shipped to the condo and were worth every penny)
Laundry soap (if have laundry)
Towel, washcloths, water thermometer, soap for bath
Diaper bag
A few toys
Pump, extra parts kit, bottles, travel drying kit, dish soap
I definitely recommend diaper disposal bags if you're staying in a hotel room (though some nicer hotels have little baggies for sanitary supplies waste). As for a changing pad, we just used the one that came with the diaper bag. You can get disposable changing pads that are pretty good too.
We didn't use a playmat or bouncy seat, just held him a lot, set him down in the middle of the hotel bed (on the sheets, or on one of our blankets), or put him on his blanket on the floor. We honestly didn't spend a ton of time in our hotel room during waking hours.
I'll just mention a few non-obvious things that helped me:
1. Pack & play cover sheet - the hotel provided us the PNP (we called ahead) but I wanted to bring my own sheet
2. Medela quick steam bags. I washed pump parts in the sink (either get dish soap from the hotel restaurant or bring a small travel bottle) but then steam sanitized in the microwave too

@honeyzoo I know this sounds obvious but what is a travel drying kit?

We are leaving for Colorado on Wednesday, and I'm starting my packing list. What would be on your list? We are driving, and it's about 8 hours away.
We are flying to CO on Thursday! Luckily we are staying with friends that also have a baby so I don't have to bring any baby equipment except car seat and stroller. I second the Medela steam bags if you are pumping.

We just returned from a 6 hour road trip and 3 night hotel stay...and this thread makes me think I waaaay UNDERpacked.
We took the stroller, pack n play and car seat for equiptment. Oh, and baby carrier that we didn't end up using because I was trying to keep her out of the sun.
-Pack of diapers (I think there were maybe 24 in the pack and wipes - 2 pairs pjs - 4 outfits and a couple extra onesies, 3 pairs socks, sunhat - thermometer and tylenol - a few blankets (this is the only thing I wish I had taken a couple extra of) - the toy that attaches to the stroller - breastpump, 1 bottle, bottle brush, soap and freezer bags - 1 glow worm!
I think that's it. It was a last minute trip and I threw everything together in under 30 min. I also took the diaper bag which already has the changing mat, burp cloth, sanitizer in it.

Other than the blankets, did you need anything you didn't have? If not, then I'd say you hit it just right :-)
We did a week in Virginia with an 8hr drive each way last week. We had access to a washer. We took- 7 onesies; 3 pair of shorts; 2 swim outfits; 15 bibs; 8 bottles; ice pack for bottles; 2 swaddle wraps; top half of bassinet; bouncer seat; 3 receiving blankets; 70 diapers; a pack of wipes; nose frida; diaper disposal bags; tylenol; bottle brush; tub of formula; ring sling; 2 baby towels. It all (except the bouncer and bassinet) fit into a single roller suitcase, which is our standard for a week trip. Don't overpack unless there are no stores nearby, its just not worth it.
Besides the obvious stuff, I am SOOOOO happy I brought LO's playmat. It lies flat in the car, didn't take up much space, we brought toys that could hang off the car seat handle or playmat (so dual purpose) and I think it was the only part of his daily routine we could actual stick to.
I visited family, so had access to a washer/dryer which meant I could pack less clothes, but I wish I would have packed more burp cloths!!! LO kicked off his 3 month growth spurt halfway through the trip and I was completely unprepared for the rivers of spit up that followed his hungry hippo behavior!
