Had my first cervical check (ouch!) in the hospital last week at 34 weeks, 3 days and the nurse was surprised to find that I am already 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I know you can walk around dilated for weeks without going into labor, but I'm wondering if there's a better chance that labor will be easier or faster? Please say it will, lol.

Re: STMs Was Your Labor Easier/Faster/Earlier If You Dilated Early?

It's a girl! Baby Anna was born August 3, 2014!
son#1 born 6/2010
son#2 born 4/2012
son#3 born 7/2014
I don't get checked, so I can't say. Mine were both early (37 weeks with my first, 38 with my second). Both births were fast. My motto is...do whatever you can to relax and stay out of your body's way. If knowing about your progress helps you relax, great. If it makes you nervous or anxious...then it will make it harder.
Edited to fix typos...English is hard.
Labor went very quick after I got an epidural.

With my second I went into labor on my own at 37 weeks and things were a bit faster, he was my vbac baby.
This time they don't expect me to make it into august (I'll be 37 weeks this Saturday)
