I've seen VBACs mentioned here and there but wasn't sure how many of us O14 moms are actually hoping for one. The VBAC board here on TB is pretty dead and I'd love to talk with others who are dealing with similar considerations and thoughts. I wanted to throw it out there to see if any others were interested in having a regular check-in to talk about plans, questions, things you're doing to up your chances of success, etc. Maybe every other week or even once a week as we get closer to our due dates?
Thoughts? If there's interest I'd be happy to get us started this week!
Re: VBAC Check-in?
That said, I signed the paperwork the other day to have a tubal ligation done in the event that I do need another c/s.
I'm hoping for a VBAC. I had an emergency C-section with my 3rd baby b/c her heart rate started dropping drastically with contractions at around 5cm. Then suddenly it dropped to 40ish bpm and stayed there no matter what we did. Turns out the cord was tightly wrapped around her neck 3 times, causing issues when baby was descending.
My doctor actually pushed hard for me to attempt a VBAC at another hospital (the one he and I work at doesn't do them) almost 2 hours away. There are some conditions I had to agree to, like being induced at 39wks, but I'm mostly ok with them.
I will be discussing more details about my induction at my next apt, so I'm not yet sure exactly what methods we will be doing.
The primary reason for it is my distance from the hospital, coupled with the fact that my other labors were only 7ish hours start to finish. If thing were to go wrong between home and that hospital, there is nowhere else to stop, no cell signal for 90% of the drive, and only one gas station in that entire stretch.
