3rd Trimester

If you've packed your hospital bag.....

How big is it?  I have a small duffle for labor and delivery and DH's stuff and then a small rolling suitcase for the rest (the stuff I've been told I'll need for the next couple of days in the hospital) plus my pillow and a boppy.

I'm wondering if the nurses are all going to think I'm nuts when I walk on into the hospital and look like I'm packed for a week-long vacation Drinks?  I figured I'll just carry the small duffle and pillow in at the beginning and then send DH out to the car for the rest later but heck, how much stuff does it take to have a kid?

TIA!

  • I have a good sized weekender bag that I will use and DH will probably pack a backpack.  We'll carry in our pillows.

  • You really won't need all the stuff that the lists say you will. I packed a ton of stuff and only used my toiletries, phone charger and clothes to go home in. Oh, and my pillows bc theirs sucked.
  • I have a duffle bag, and the boppy pillow and the diaper bag, DH will probably have a backpack

  • I have a backpack for L&D plus toiletries and extra socks.  I plan on wearing the hospital gown while I'm there (no sense in ruining my own clothes), and we live close enough that DH can go home and change.  I'll have him pick me up an outfit that I've set aside to come home in when the time comes, but I'm not going to bring it with me to save space.  I also have the diaper bag packed with the baby's stuff.  I forgot about bringing the Boppy, but if I decide I want it, DH or someone can always go get it for me.

  • Thanks ladies!  My DH has watched me pack toilet paper, pads, enough BF supplies for an army and more since the lists told me to.... I think I'll downsize this eve Surprise
  • I have one of the rolling carry on bags. I am determined not to go overboard with what I bring. I have 2 pairs of PJs and an outfit to go home in. 2 sports bras, 2 panties, basic toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, cond, soap, bath puffy, deodorant), and robe and slippers. I will add my brush, and a change of clothes for DH as we get closer.  I plan to wear the gown for first day and stick with the mesh panties. I can't imagine that i need more than this but should i deperately need something DH or my parents will buy it or stop home for it.
  • I have the diaper bag for the baby and then a bag a little bit bigger than that for me.  I learned the first time around that less is better.  :D
  • Oh, and DH will bring her diaper bag ay some point with clothes for her
  • I just took in a small weekender bag to L&D with my stuff and then had DH get the boppy and the baby's stuff from the car (in a diaper bag) after he was born.

Oh, and why do people take toilet paper? I promise you will not need it.

  • This just came up on the other hospital bag post too -- I guess the tp is because the hospital tp is lousy?  I'd be happy to take it out though - it takes up way too much bag space....
