Are they doing it while you are still in the hospital? Ours won't do them because it is a Catholic hospital but normally I thought they made you wait till six weeks post partum vaginal delivery. I know they will do them during a c-section though so maybe I am behind the times. I asked my OBGYN and he said I would have to wait six weeks and of course go to a different hospital so we are opting for DH to visit the urologist since the recovery time is minimal and it will cost less for us.
@Lavelle7 I haven't had my tubes tied, but I have had a laparoscopic procedure done (cyst removed from ovary). I was down only about a week (as your doctor stated for recovery time). However, mine was not immediately following a labor & delivery. I'm not sure how that might effect the recovery time. I'd say make sure you have PLENTY of help. It (for me) was harder to recover from than my csection was.
Just FYI, saying "no negative comments" is basically the biggest invitation you can give for negative comments. This is a public forum and people will always respond how they want.
@2ag Actually, this is NOT a silly question as MANY moms have already given birth! I'm interested in any experience from moms who may know someone who had their tubes tied while in the hospital AFTER A VAGINAL DELIVERY or those who have already had their LO and maybe peeking back to check on someone!!! Maybe I worded the question wrong..still getting used to this forum. I was a member before but was not very active.. anyway...
Yes, @a_brasuell they said that they are able to do it 24 hours after I deliver (right in the hospital). Just getting a little nervous. We will be PCS'ing to Germany within 6 weeks and I guess they are trying to get it done within that timeframe so that I can have my postpartum appt while in the States. Thank you for your feedback.
Changed question.. Is that better? I'm looking for those that may know someone who experienced this. Can't find anyone that has had this done after vaginally delivering while in hospital....
Oh and the "no negative comments" was not in the way that you are thinking.. I came here for support.. Not to argue, so I would never intentionally stir up drama by posting that...

From a mathematical perspective alone, this is a July 2014 BMB, and since it's only July 7th...the majority of the women on this board have NOT given birth already. You may want to post this question on one of the other boards (ie. June 2014) and you'd get a better response rate.

They're "here"...but they're still the minority. The vast majority of the group has yet to deliver their baby/babies. So you really might try posting on the May or June board, because you may have a better possibility of reaching someone who has, in fact, experienced this.
I don't have experience with that but from my experience with laparoscopic surgery, I'm not sure I'd want to add that on immediately after giving birth vaginally. However, it seems like lots of women do it and if your doctor's willing to do it 24 hours after delivery I'm sure it will be fine. Do you have plenty of support for helping to take care of the baby and your other kids in case the recovery is difficult?
@LeaLupins I have my husband and my Mother is supposed to come but lives 2 hours away at the moment... I just didn't know if it will be difficult to prepare for the move. This doc is a man of course, so he's saying that I will only be in pain for one week! But I definitely do not want to have anymore children in the future, this is baby #5 for me and DH is in the military which makes it that much harder.. I may rethink it... Thank you so much
If we were to opt for surgical birth control, DH would be the one having it done. I certainly wouldn't be signing up for an additional procedure right after giving birth, especially with other kids at home to take care of.
Other than my mom and aunts no. They did not have any issues with theirs, however, I do know the closer after birth it's done there is a higher chance of a failure rate. Good luck with everything.
