April 2014 Moms

( o )( o )

Just a few random things about boobs:

1.  whenever there's a naked scene in Orange is the New Black, i can't help but look at how perky the boobs are and i have a little period of mourning for my poor, sad, saggy sandbags.

2.  i am sick and tired of wearing these stupid target nursing tanks every single day and going out in public with visible headlights.  time for a nursing bra!!  what's your favorite brand?  where did you buy it?

Re: ( o )( o )

  • 1. My boobs are actually better post babies. Prior to having my DDs they were pointy like road cones. I hated them. Now they are nice and round.

    2. Cake nursing bras. I would find a boutique that sells them however since the sizing is really wonky.

  • 1. I KNOW. I mean, I don't mind my boobs, but they could be better. When So-So had her scene in the chapel, I was like, "Dang. I hate her."

    2. I love this bra: https://m.target.com/p/gilligan-o-malley-women-s-nursing-full-coverage-lace-bra/-/A-14245405

    Only one question 2 parts;
Do my nipples and areolas go back down to normal size? If so when?

I wear Soma bras as well, since they have them in my size (barely).

  • my nipples returned to their pre-preg size after awhile.  i can't remember whether it was during breastfeeding or after weaning, though.
  • Anita nursing bras. I like the 5150 even though it looks like an old lady bra - but my huge boobs don't hurt when I wear it so IDGAF about what it looks like. Expensive, but so so worth it. I have also heard good things about Cake, as @RedDawnsRevenge‌ mentioned, but haven't tried them yet.

I am am one week since I stopping pumping and they are almost normal size. So pretty quick once you stop bf I'd say!
  • I went from 34C pre-preg to currently rocking a 34F. I went to Nordstrom and bought an Anita. This is what happened...

    1) It made my boobs look amazing.
    2) Crazy expensive for a (hideous) bra.
    3) It was a hideous bra.
    4) Most importantly- I couldn't wear it with anything! Even with a regular tank (Gap, etc) it was coming out the top. It was like grandma panties on my chest.

If it was winter I think it would have been fine, but for summer... no way.

I have also tried the G&O'Ms regular nursing bras and find them awful. These days I am usually wearing one of their sleep bras. The girls don't look perky and amazing in them, but they are comfy -- and they look no worse than they do in a nursing tank!

I hear Bravado are great but I'm hesitant to buy a bra online. Also, I think I may just be averse to "real" nursing bras. So stiff. So scratchy. :(

  • Bravado tanks work great! I also use disposable nursing pads which helps with the headlights and any leakage from showing through.

Haha my J&J nursing pads are in large part responsible for my headlights. They have a kind of nipple " pocket" which makes them comfy, but generally it looks like I have puffy areaolas and cut diamonds...cute.

Also the title is pretty darned awesome. So are boobs for the most part, (Never thought I'd be equipped for the pornstar jiggle, or fattening up my little boy).
  • I've tried several Gillian & O'Malley bras and find them worthless for anything but sleeping. Their only redeeming quality was price. No support & they lose their shape after a few washes (mind you, I also toss them in the dryer). I'm done with shopping for bras by price. My boobs need an investment at this point. But again, I'm an F cup right now. Maybe they work for smaller sizes.

I tried a Target nursing bra and hated it. Price was the only redeeming feature for me...I found it incredibly uncomfortable. I bought this one online by a company called Carriwell and it is amazing. I loved it so much I just bought another one in a different colour. So incredibly comfortable! I am a B/C though so not sure how it would be for larger busted ladies.

This except I don't put mine in the dryer. I have had the straps from target bras complete snap and break. They're cheap and the only last a month, if that, so it ends up being more expensive. And you know that never happens at home. That's why I found a women's boutique that specialized in fashionable moms cloths. The cake bra was $60 but so far very worth it.
  • I like the underwire bras from Target. Good support, comfy, and not ugly!

  • I drove an hour to Fresno to try the Cake bra. The sizing is funny as it doesn't seem consistent between styles. They do make bras with and without underwire and come in large sizes. It's comfortable and sexy as well so you could wear it even after BFing. And the straps are of a good thickness and strength. The lace cups are lined with a soft but thin and breathable cotton. I have some other bras I bought at motherhood and at target, all of which lasted only about 3months except the racer back bra, I have had it 25months! Don't know why that one lasted so long!
  • Reading this post is making me sad and dead jealous!! Like some of you I like boobs, but I think that's because I've never had any (think training bra size) before, during or after breast feeding!! Nothing!!! :((
  • My boobs are huge and always have been (32 I), I couldn't find a nursing bra to fit me comfortably so I had some regular bras converted. Very happy with them. I use cake sports bras to sleep in, very comfy.
  • I bought like five bras from babies r us when they still had their clothing. They were like 70% off so I figured they were worth a try. I think they work pretty well and are comfy. The brand is thyme maternity and I think youcanstill get them online. I also have a Gilligan and o malley bra and don't care for it.
