Diapers for mom!????!!!???

I have a 5 yr old. I had a csection with him. Well that's off point but, any of you previous mommies remember those mesh underwear the hospital gives you to wear? Well I have a wonderful solution. DEPENDS!!!!! After my csection I had trouble getting the 10 ft pad adjusted and having to lift my butt was damn near impossible. This time around I will be buying a pack of depends and saying bye bye to those mesh hair nets the hospital provides. If you like the idea make sure to add to your hospital bag.

Re: Diapers for mom!????!!!???

  • They are quite stretchy and don't dig into skin but my pad would not stay put. I had pushed for three hours before csection so my abs were in trouble. I couldn't lift a leg or nothin. When I finally did get out of bed I couldn't stand straight. I'm thinking if I schedule a second csection I'll have it easier. I may try for vbac though.

  • I've heard this multiple times and am planning on purchasing some just in case I don't like the hospital ones. Worse case scenario I can donate them to a nearby nursing home if I don't use them.

  • I was a postpartum nurse... the pads we gave out were TERRIBLE. I am totally bringing my own pads (overnights) to use with the mesh panties! I could not handle wearing Depends.
  • It would feel a little weird. Won't go into details but not having a pad there would feel strange right?? That is a great idea with the overnights as well.

I think I used Always Infinity pads once I got home which were super absorbent while not being really bulky. I was all about those big, ugly mesh undies, though.  :)
same!  Along with a lot of Tuck pads and dibucaine (I had a significant tear)
  • Stupid question- Are depends made to absorb that much blood? I'll probably just stick with huge pads.
  • apparently they make post partum depends so I think they may be pretty absorbant. im just talking for the hospital though. not after I return home.

  • I like the mesh panties--I still have like 4 pairs leftover.  My nurse stuffed my bag full of goodies.  I liked using the mesh underwear because the hospital froze water soaked pads in a freezer and you could ice your lady bits.  Maybe you could do the same with Depends.
  • I bet that would be nice!!lol

  • Somehow my 30 yr old husband got 2 free samples of Depends in the mail. I packed them away for this exact occasion. I didn't mind the mesh underwear, but I ruined quite a few pairs (glad I didnt ruin my own undies!) because the pad wouldn't stay still. I did like that they were easy on my incision though. Having a binder also helped.

I loved the mesh undies. The pads were fine for me too. Gonfor the depends if that will be more comfy though!

  • Well that's a lot of punctuation.
  • Mesh undies? I have had three babies and have never heard of these!!
  • Totally doing this next time!  I had a vaginal birth but got those undies and they gave me the biggest rash on my butt!  It was worse than PP recovery!  Haha!  Also, my water broke in the middle of the night but he hadn't dropped all the way down yet so I was gushing fluid EVERYWHERE and it wouldn't stop.  I put a towel down there to absorb it all and it was soaked through by the time we got to the hospital.  This time, totally going to have a pack of Depends next to my bed, the toilet, in my purse... wherever I can put one so I can get it quickly if my water breaks again!

  • Sorry for the extreme punctuation. I didn't know I was entering for a Pulitzer or anything. I thought the whole point of community was to reach out and express ourselves. If I have offended anyone with excessive exclamation points I apologize. I won't make that mistake again.
