2nd Trimester

Premature Aging Placenta

I'm 19 weeks, miscarried about 7-8 yrs ago, and have not had anything till now. I went in today for my mid ultrasound, they said that my placenta was looking a little aged.... i see my doc next week. Is there anything i can do to stop it or slow it down? Anything that won't hurt the baby?

Re: Premature Aging Placenta

  • My placenta was aging more rapidly at the end of my pregnancy (no GD, they said it just happens sometimes), but that was around 34w. We ended up doing extra monitoring for several reasons (placenta, cord blood flow, borderline pre-e & IUGR). Anyway, my understanding is that there's nothing you can do to "fix" it. I would call and ask the doctor tomorrow.
