Numb fingers

For the last couple of weeks I've had constant numbness in the tips of my fingers, especially in my left hand. I'm thinking that it might be a symptom of pregnancy carpal tunnel syndrome, but I was wondering if anyone was experiencing this during pregnancy?

The only time I experience pain is in the mornings when I'm first waking up. It's almost as if all the joints in my hand are stiff

I had it my last 2 pregnancies, but not yet in this one. Are you experiencing pain as well? Icing my wrist and wearing a brace at night helped some. I was also taking tylenol pm to help me sleep. It's not fun and frankly, nothing really helps except having the baby.

This exactly for me. With Ds1 it started early....like 18 weeks. With this LO I have been given a reprieve until a few days ago. The brace will help. Not the most comfortable, but it does help. I wore them at night.

  • I had pregnancy carpal tunnel last time so bad. I didn't find anything helped it :( and it took a good month after delivery to go away.

I have it too. I wear a brace when i sleep but it's still very frustrating.

  • Yes - I get numb and tingly often....almost like my hand is falling asleep. Then this past week I've woken up each morning with sore hands at the tendon between my thumb and index finger. Almost like I had been clenching my fists all night. I'm assuming it is all related to blood flow and will go away after birth. I just try to stretch and rub my hands as much as possible and not leave my hand immobile in one position when resting.
  • I have had it with both pregnancies.  Wearing wrist guards has really helped.  In fact I fell asleep last night without wearing them last night and totally could tell all day.

  • I got it last time and I feel like it's starting to creep back in. Unfortunately mine only got worse after delivery. Snapping all those sleeper snaps with numb fingers was torture. My wrist also started locking up and I had to start wearing a brace. It finally went away after a couple months...

  • I had this at the tips of two of my fingers on one hand. It took a few weeks, but they went back to normal after delivery. Pregnancy is so bizarre.

I used wrist braces at night and found that helped a lot (my hands were going numb when I was sleeping and I wasn't laying on them or anything).  I think the carpal tunnel is just now starting to come back (almost 29 weeks), so I've got to find where I put those things...

  • I've been having this for almost the past month as well, throughout the day & now when I wake up in the morning.  I mentioned it to my OB & she suggested wearing the braces at night.  I also try to stretch & rub my hands throughout the day or when I feel them starting to get tingly/swollen - it seems to help.  Also, lots of fluids & tylenol.
