Beach Babies!

A few moms mentioned in the Things to Do post that they were takinf LO's to the beach...

If you don't mind sharing, I was wondering a few things.

Like, what did you physically bring your baby in? What did you 'keep' them in while you were there - lay them down in a tent, hold them the whole time, car seat, baby carrier?

This feels like a dumb question, but I am confused about the basic logistics.

Any other hints welcome :) we are going to give this big adventure a shot tomorrow.

Re: Beach Babies!

  • Sorry no help here from this landlocked state, but I will say I am super jealous of all you beach goers! I grew up in Michigan and miss the summertime lake fun. Stupid Colorado :)

  • We haven't gone yet but you can't live in/near Philly and not take a trip to the jersey shore at least once during ghe summer. Our plan is to keep her covered with muslin blankets and use one of those beach tents when we are outside. I have a "podster" to lay her in like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003HIXOTQ?cache=505e157100aaff54e354fcfcc200c8b9&pi=SX200_QL40&qid=1404610874&sr=8-1#ref=mp_s_a_1_1

I may also wear her if I get the hang of it well enough.

I'm interested to hear what worked for others!

I have onefof the little tents but I'm not sure how much he's going to love laying in there. Let's be serious I'm lucky he lays in the PNP half the time.

Hey @jmar2011‌! Bummer about the beach. How are you and LO doing?

@jmar2011‌ - that's great news! I bet you can't wait to get him home! Sounds like he is doing great with the eating and growth spurts... Hopefully the vacterl doesn't lead to anything else but it sounds like the dr's are on top of things, which is awesome. Good luck Monday, you're both an inspiration! I'll be thinking of you guys.

  • @jmar2011‌ Congrats on getting to bring him home soon!

Re the beach: We brought LO with us for the 4th. My parents condo is beachfront so we just parked there and walked her out to the beach. I sat under a big umbrella the whole time and there was a good breeze. LO just sat on top of me and mostly napped in the breeze or ate. When she was asleep, I was able to put her down on a towel.

I would make sure the umbrella is set up before you being LO out, so that sun exposure is limited. We had a hat on her, but I was uncomfortable with her in the sun for longer than it took to walk from the building.

We didn't bring anything special or extra aside from a hat. Lots of water and snacks for mama to keep supply up.

She did want to nurse extra that day bc she got a little sweaty at one point.

Neither of us went in the water. LO was 2w5d at the time. We took dd1 around the same time.

I kept baby in my RS with a hat (that was too big but did the job), and then just put my feet in the water
