Steroid injection

I'm 24 weeks and 4 days. I had a test done to detect the protein in my cervix which came back positive which means that I will go into labour very soon or soon more than likely this month. I had my first steroid injection yesterday morning and then today I had my second lot of steroid injection. I haven't really been told much about the injection. Anyone else had to have steroid injections at 24 weeks?? Really need someone to talk to x

    Aww hunni I'm praying for you but don't worry. I went into early labor with my daughter around 25/26 weeks and was on bedrest until I could deliver her at around 30 weeks. They have me the same set of shots to basically make her lungs develop faster. Believe me when I say everything will be ok and you bundle of joy will come out healthy. My daughter is now 9 n shows no signs of anything via her premature entry into the world. I'm 25 weeks now with my 3rd baby and about 4 weeks ago they started me on weekly shots so make sure I don't deliver early with this one. Granted my son, who is now 5, came exactly on time...the precaution kinda helps. But I assure u there ain't anything to worry about. Good luck.

    Thank you all once again for your kind words and support. Hopefully he will stay in there a while longer! I had the baby care doctor come and talk to me yesterday and it was ever so upsetting he obviously had to prepare us for the worst if he was to come now. I'm hoping my uterus and cervix will behave and keep him in there! I'm 24 weeks and 5 days now so every day,week is a bonus, I'm compleatly pretty much resting in hospital now but if I'm ok I think they will let me home on Monday, although I feel a lot safer in hospital when I have the pains. I just need to rest. I am so pleased to hear of so many success story's of premies and hopefully mine will be a success too, thinking positive is the only thing that will get me through. Cuban pinky good luck with the rest of your pregnancy xx

    I don't have much personal experience but I wanted to wish you luck! I was a premie and I like to think I turned out just fine!!! FX for many more weeks of pregnancy.

    Thank you :) 24w5 days he's still hanging in there! Have got to be reviewed on Monday if he's still inside and see whats happening properly from there xx

    I had the steroid shots at 23w5d due to preterm labor. They were able to stop my labor and I am currently on bed rest (due to other complications) until I deliver. My doctor said they will do another round of shots at 28 weeks because studies have shown a second dose helps lung maturity. Hopefully you won't have to worry about it and you make it many more weeks!!

    That's really good they was able to stop your labour :) and it's good you are still hanging in there! I'm not able to have any more of the steroid shots now :( I will be on bed rest now too I'm still in hospital at the minute but I think they may let me home next week. I'm just praying to get to at least 28weeks xx
