Question about 7dpo blood work

Hi ladies!

I had cd3 and 7dpo blood work done for this current cycle. (this is the 2nd time doing 7dpo blood work as I ended up getting my period 8dpo last cycle so had to redo it) My question is this cycle I couldn't get a positive on my opk's (but its a new brand so thought maybe they sucked) but based on my temps and watery CM on cycle day 16 I was given an O date of day 17 so 7 days later I had blood drawn. Then my dr's office called a couple days ago to ask what cycle day I had the test done on, which makes me think something doesn't look right. So I removed the watery CM on day 16 and now ff gives me dotted crosshairs for an O date of day 23, which means my blood was drawn on 1dpo. Which now explains why I never got positive opk's. Today the office called and wants to see me next week. My question is, was that blood test garbage at this point?  I realize the progesterone will be low, but what about thyroid, prolactin etc. Will there be anything useful from it? I hate to waste another month.

Re: Question about 7dpo blood work

  • I don't think your TSH (thyroid) levels are dependent on your cycle day, and I'm positive that your prolactin levels have nothing to do with your cycle day. If you had those two and progesterone, only your progesterone levels would be "garbage."
    **siggy warning**  **everyone welcome**

  • Not necessarily garbage- it will still give you information this cycle about your O date. I did the same thing- I went in for my 7dpo blood draw because I thought I may have ovulated. It was low, and combined with other factors, my OB and I decided that I hadn't O'd yet. I return next week to try again 7 days after my new O date!

  • Thank you so much for your feedback. I'm glad to hear I could still learn something from my cycle. Disappointed I'll have to do the 7 dpo test for a third time. Means another month not knowing if there's potentially an issue.
