2nd Trimester

Morning sickness

I am 25 weeks pregnant and am still sick every single morning. I'm having a little boy and have a busy life working in a nursery 5 days a week full time and am 19 years old. I'm usually okay throughout the day but it's starting to get quiet bad again, I've been on tablets and was signed of work for a few weeks the beginning of my pregnancy and I don't wanna go back down that road! What other things can people suggest? Thank you!

Re: Morning sickness

  • I'm not sure what you have tried but here are some suggestions on trying to keep it at bay:

    - gum or hard candy to suck on between meals
    - dry snacks to nibble on through out the day (I constantly have Cheerios and almonds on hand)
    - high protein snacks/meals
    - anything with b6 (watermelon, Gatorade)
    - take frequent small breaks. If you overwork yourself you just exacerbate the nausea.
    - hydrate
    - citrus smells can help calm in some cases

I hope things calm down for you.

  • If you haven't tried diceglis that is what finally worked for me. Although I had some slight nausea in the afternoon I was no longer throwing up every day. It's just unisom and b6. I was still sick on zofran but a friend of mine said it helped a lot. Make sure you are eating frequently and drinking plenty of water. Sorry you are going through this still. Mine finally stopped around 22 weeks.
  • I was on Zyrtec for nausea.  It didn't get rid of the m/s entirely, but it made it less horrible.

  • Thank you all for your replies, I'm from the UK so a lot of the stuff your suggesting I have no idea what it is! Sorry! I can't really snack through the day as I work with children meaning I can't just have a break when I need one. I have a half hour break for lunch break but that's it. The smells with working with children probably dosent help! I am going to try sea bands though as a lot of people have suggested them. Thanks for your advice
  • It's hard to eat during work which I think may be the reason I feel so sick at the end of the day, then I don't fancy any dinner but boyfriend makes me eat something when I get home, once I do I'm usually okay just the thought of food makes me feel nauseous most of the time! Haha I brought some sea bands and they seem to be taking the edge of a bit so far.
  • I was so sick my first trimester and halfway into my second (ending the final weeks of my 2nd now) Zofran helped but I couldn't even keep down water. It really is just trial and error. Sometimes sour candies helped sometimes they did not, all I can say is I really hope you start feeling better soon
