  • Loading the player...
  • I'd like to rejoin!  I'm thinking today will be CD1, but I'm not quite ready to call it.  You'd think after all these months, we'd be authorities on whether or not it is CD1...but nope.

I should start BCPs this weekend.

QOTW: I am not sports fan.  However, I do like attending baseball games.  Go O's!!!

  • @ronniesgirl1981‌ this cycle I started spotting early and I wasn't sure if I was going to ever get a full flow to call it cd1. I told my husband my period was stuck. Hopefully you will start soon so you can get started.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • Formatting hates me.  I wonder if it's an apple thing and this website?  I can't ever seem to get it right the first time.

Sorry it's late this week but its been kinda crazy this week.

Out of our 10 frozen embryos we have 3 that are normal :D , 6 abnormal and 1 unknown which I think they are retesting.  Of our 3 we have 2 girls and a boy.  The girls are graded 4 and 2 and our boy is a 3 and hatching.  I ordered my meds and start my lupron next week for FET scheduled somewhere around 8-17 and they are going to put all 3 back in me.  I'm literally on cloud 9 right now, this is our first babies to have a chance with the correct chromosomes and our little boy already is hatching, I think he's ready to join this world.  My aunt told me yesterday to tell them she has a pony at her house waiting for them, she said it may give them an extra push to make it.

@pintobean39....please ignore my ignorance.  I do not know much of anything about IVF...haven't got to that stage (and we most likely won't go through IVF if we have to).  I don't believe I've ever heard the comment about 2 are girls, 1 is a boy regarding eggs.  So stupid question....do you guys ultimately get to pick the boy or girl??  Or will they use all 3 and it's still a surprise since I'm guessing you don't know if they'll stick?
    Again...please excuse my ignorance!!

  • @athlete010688‌ no questions are stupid. With our IVF they fertilized all my eggs and let them grow to blastocyst (5 days) and did PGD testing on them. The testing involves a sample of them before freezing. The testing tells us the chromosome makeup so it also tells if they are XY or XX. I honestly wasn't expecting to find out but after they told me how many we had they asked if I wanted to know, sure why not. :-) Some people do it for gender selection but we aren't. We only did it because I've already had a couple of miscarriages with chromosomal issues.

They are going to put all 3 back in me so it will still be a surprise unless all 3 stick but seriously that's not going to happen, I'll be lucky for 1.
    Fucking bump!!!!

@pintobean39 - I have a newbie question too.  Regarding the PGD testing.  I've seen quite a few people do that, and it seems like usually less than half end up 'normal'.  Why did you do the PGD testing?  Or why is it suggested?  (I understand why, obviously, but is it a case-by-case type of thing recommended for some?)

January 2013: returned to RE, fibroids grew significantly
February 2013: second HSG, fibroids pushed on tubes which blocked them somewhat

July 29, 2013: fibroids (5) removed via robotic laparascopy
August 2013 - Nov 2013 : benched due to recent surgery

June 11, 2014: consult, approved to move on to IVF because the hydro is not completely blocked therefore allowing fluid to move through slowly rather than backwards

@Pintobean39 That is great news!  Sorry about all the attacks, though.  Minieres sucks!  I was initially diagnosed with it in college when I was having a lot of problems and getting bad vertigo often.  But a few years alter they said it may have just been migraines.  Either way, I feel your pain!

I don't have much of an update, other than we will do FET in August.  So I guess I'm a bit lost on the PGD thing, too.  I just know it's expensive, but is it normal then that over half of blastocysts are abnormal?  I only have two, so that would mean my chances suck :(

QOTW: I love football and can't wait for fantasy football.  But I also get into soccer for all the championship cups - mostly b/c it's fun to go to the pubs and watch the matches with a big crowd.

They usually recommend PGD testing after multiple miscarriage. Since I had 4 miscarriages in a year and 2 were tested to be trisomy it was highly recommended that I do the testing because I have more bad than good eggs, which is definitely the case. I had 18 mature and fertilized and 10 make it to 5 days but only 3 were normal. Also because I'm 40 that's what is recommended.

  • @gsancho‌ I started having attacks when I was 17 and at 25 they mentioned Ménière's but treatments didn't help. About 3 years ago I started having muscle weakness with the attacks so my ENT sent me to a neurologist who thought I was having migraines in my brain stem so the treated me for those but it wasn't working I was still having horrible spells. Then I found a ENT Neurologist that specializes in balance disorders and he diagnosed me officially with Ménière's and an undiagnosed auto immune muscle disorder that he thinks is MS based on my LP. He did surgery on my head last year to help with the Ménière's attacks and it helps they aren't lasting weeks only hours but all these pregnancies, miscarriages, and now fertility treatments have my body going crazy and they won't treat me anymore as long as I'm TTGP. The cool thing as soon as I get pregnant I'm symptom free. So I'm hoping a pregnancy happens soon so we can finally have a baby and I can finally have a break of symptoms. My neurologist and my ENT neurologist have both said as soon as I have a baby I'll get to start new medications for my muscles and they will do more treatments on my ear to finally get me relief.

Also regarding your blastocyst since you are younger you prob don't have as many bad as I do. From my understanding many of the genetic ones don't even make it to blastocyst. For some reason even our babies that have genetic problems are fighters and I still manage to carry them 8-10 weeks. Because of my health reasons and my past experience it wasn't even an option for us to not do PGD.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • @Pintobean39 - That is great news!

I had my baseline u/s and bw on Monday.  All was quiet and we got the green light to move forward with stimming.  I will start 300 iu of Gonal-F on Friday along with 10 units HCG.  I go back up Monday for bw only.  My Ganirelix came today.  I still have two meds that I need to get...antibiotic and Medrol.

QOTW:  I don't really watch sports.  C likes watching football and I don't mind it.  Other than that, she watches bull riding.  I find that pretty interesting.

  • @Pintobean39‌ yay for those beautiful embabies!! So glad you finally got your good news!
@ronniesgirl1981‌ might I suggest wearing white shorts? Last time AF was taking her sweet ass time I did that, and had an embarrassing moment at the hair salon, but it was worth it!
    FX for you @StacyLH24‌ , @jessimi06‌ , @jencity9‌ , @ky29‌!
AFM, I'm pretty much at a standstill for the moment, beta dropped to 17 Monday so they will check me again next week. I'm on BCPs to shrink my cysts, and waiting on a new plan from RE & the embryologist. I had 3 surprise frosties--so surprised I feel like they made a mistake and they aren't mine! The quality isn't so good though, so I think we're going to end up doing IVF 3 before doing an FET, haven't decided yet till we hear from embryologist.
qotw: I'm not much for televised sporting events, but attending a baseball game is pretty fun!

@Pintobean39‌ , I quit all vitamins the past week bc I was pissed but I was taking coq. Haven't heard of ubiquitum. Do you just buy them at target or somewhere? Would a gnc or other store have better quality?

Ubiquinol is suppose to be more easily absorbed by your body than CoQ10. I actually get mine from Amazon. I switched my coq10 to ubiquinol a few months before my IVF. I also did some research on melatonin. I took it every night a month before I started stims. Of course none of it's proven but my RE said it was ok to take it so I figured it was worth a shot. There is some research out there on the melatonin and it didn't help pregnancy rate but if I remember correctly there was more mature eggs because it's thought that it helped estrogen. I can't remember the exact details. I knew I was facing an uphill battle anyway because egg quality is my biggest problem.

Of course I am not preg and only have 3 normal embryos and still a long way to go. My age is my biggest downfall. But I over exceeded any expectation my Dr had on my cycle. My FSH was 8.2 with an AFC of 4. My Dr only expected 6-7 mature eggs in the beginning. Even at trigger I only had 14-15 follicles that could even be mature which was a stretch and they thought some would be empty or no good. I even discussed with my RE the day of ER not even doing PGD because we were worried I just wouldn't have enough eggs to make it worth the cost and he agreed. Somehow I got 19 eggs and 18 mature that all fertilized with ICSI and 10 made it to blastocyst.

I don't know if any of the supplements is what helped but it's worth a try if you RE is ok with you taking them. I imagine you are like me if they say standing on your head for 30 min a day may help you will be standing on your head.

My husband and I also did research on DHEA which seems to help with egg quality especially for older people like me BUT when I talked to my RE about this he told me I couldn't take it because it effects other things and it would hurt me more.

Good Luck! I really hope your next cycle is much better.

    Fucking bump!!!!
  • @Pintobean39‌ - Here is my best guess and how I'm coming up with it...

Back with my last IUI cycle, when it looked like I was going to over respond, the nurse gave me a vial of diluted HCG that my RE's office mixes. She said that if I was instructed to take it, it would kill off the smaller follies and help the larger ones continue to grow. It was in effort to help save that cycle, which didn't happen.

I'm assuming that this is also what they are looking for with using it in an IVF cycle. My RE said that he wants 8-12 follies, so my guess is that the HCG is to help produce good quality follies and not a million follies just for the sake of quantity.

  • @Pintobean39‌ I'm taking ubiquinone gummies, but might switch to ubiquinol since I have an egg quality issue as well.
@StacyLH24‌ I'm intrigued by this hcg business. I make lots of follies but not enough mature ones, so it sound like your nurses theory would apply for me. ..I've also heard of some of our gals using HGH for egg quality...I intend to ask RE about both when we have our WTF!!

    I'm officially PUPO!!

I had my ER on Saturday... 11R, 8M, and 5 Fertilized. Yesterday was my 5DT and I transferred one. I guess there were "two beautiful blasts" to choose from, so one will be frozen!

They are also watching one and will let me know if there is one more to freeze! So I'm pretty happy because I wasn't too optimistic going in but I'm glad we get the chance to try FET if this little one doesn't work out... grow, grow!

We are right there together. I'm on bcp now, lupron starts 7/12, estrace and vivelle 7/21 I think depending on us and lab work. I'm not sure exactly when I start PIO.
    Fucking bump!!!!
